Oh, the Pain of Rheumatism! Rheumatism often causes the most intense suffering. Many have for years vainly sought relief from this disabling disease, and are to-dhy worse off than ever. Rheumatism is a blood disease, and Swift’s Specific is the only cure, because it is the only remedy which can reach such deep-seated diseases. A few years ago I was taken with inflammatory Rheumatism, which became so intense that I was for weeks unable to walk. I tried 4X —. several prominent physicians and took their treat111 enl faithfully, but was viable to get the slightesl relief. In fact, my eon. ST & dition seemed to grow vF » \ worse, the disease spread JC over my entire body, and f rom November to March 1 suffered agony. I tried ' ' * many patent medicines, ' but none relieved me. tfx' r' 7 Upon the advice of a 7 7 friend I decided to try S. S. S. Before allowing me to take it. however. mv guardian, who was a chemist, anaIvaed the remed v. and pronounced it free of potash or mercury. I felt so much better after taking two bottles, that I continued the remedy, and in two months I was cured completely. The cure was permanent, for I have never since had a touch of Rheumatism though many times exposed to damp and cold weather Ei EAN'OB M. TIPFKLL, STII Powelton Avenue. Philadelphia. THE SUPREME COURT ROOM AT WASHINGTON DAMAGED B\ A GAS EXPLOSION. Entire Central Eastern Part of the Capitol Practically a Mass of Ruins. Many Valuable Documents Are Destroyed. Washington. Nov. 7. —An explosion and fire las' evening wrecked the supreme court room an.l the rooms imir. - diately adjoining it on the main floor of of the capitol. The damage is enor-. mens. The entire central eastern part of the great marble pile from the main ' floor to the subt- mniean basemt nt practically is a mass <>f ruins. The the explosion w.is so heavy that the coping stones on the outer walls, just east of the point where the explosion occurred, were bulged out ly two inches, windows in all that ; part of the building were blown out and locked doors were forced from their hinges quite !•’>'' feet fn >m the s tie of it. The explosion sh-.x-k the immense structure to it- foundations and was heard several squares from the capitol. It occurred in a small room tightly enclosed by heavy stone walls in the sub terranean bii-ement immediately below the main entrance to the old capitol building. In this r\ m was a .'.e-light gas mt . r which was fed by a4-im hi main. The met. r itself was wrecked - and the gas pouring from the main caught fire. Flames Parted I p the Elevator Shaft. The flames originating from the ex-' plosion darted up the shrift of the elevator. which had been completely destrewed by the force of the explosion, and communicated with the record room of the supreme court, the office of the marshal of the court and the supreme court library. Before the flames could ; be subdued the priceless documents in rhe roe rd r.;om had been aln: -t totally destroyed and sen< u; damage had been done in the marshal’s office and some miner rooms in the immediate vicinity. Only a few persons, principally ■ ‘fliors of the capitol police, were in the building at the time, but several cf them had narrow escapes.
The library vntains al- ut v ’• nines, and was nsed not only by the jnsrices of the ,-tiprenie court, bat by members M s . ' ngT» ss and lawyers pructie-.r.g before the supreme court. Justice Harlan said last night that the library was very valnabl . Many of the work' it contained would, he th<>r<ght.be di^i-. cult to replace. Records Destroyed. The most serious damage, in the opinion of the judges f the supreme e nrt. is to the ree. rds st.-r -d in the sub-lu. .-- ment. These included all of the rec-. ords of the supreme court from 1792 t 1532. The room contains records of v-ases and opiiii- t> rendered by the fathers •>f the judiciary of the govern-! ment. The documents in this room are either t- -tally destroyed -r so badly damaged by fire and water as to be usel-ss. Throughout the lower central portion of the old capitol building doors, windows and fittings in eommitteerys-ms and other apartments are badly damaged. Just north of the Crypt an archway almost over the merer room was < mpletely bl- wn ■ -nr and great ma.— of n.ivs-ury tern from the floor wire hurled to the* ceiling with such font as to burst the stone an ', piaster of the walls above. Ponder r.s flagst< were wrenched from their resting places and throughout the corridors the frescoing on the ceilings and walls of the corridors were utterly ruined. N daruage was done to the main foundations of the building, as these are of s< .id ma- -.iry tieepdy embed -led and 25 feet 4 inches thick. Miner Returns. With SIS.OOO of Sooth American Yellow Metal. B.—The Daily Chronicle says this morning: "We have received information from a reliable quarter of a ■well organized plot in Paris, in the event of the inquiry before the court of cassation proving favorable to Dreyfus, to foment a riotous outburst in the French capital, to attempt to overthrow the civil power and to assassinate the leading champions of Dreyfus. “These reports are (Tn firmed by interviews had with M. Trarieux. former minister of justice, and M. De Pressonso, foreign editor of The Temps, as well as others. The police have warned those friends of Dreyfus to change’ their residence temporarily, or at least to carry revolvers.” Horrible Death E. F. Bentley Saves a Streetcar From Being Wrec ketl and Loses His Lift*. Paducah, Ky., Nov. s.—The body of E. F. Bentley was brought here to a broken-hearted family from Louisville, where he was killed by an electric car. Mr. Bentley was an employe of the I. C. railroad at Louisville. The motonuan and conduct .it were arrested, but were released as the accident was unavoidable.
