Trees were set over the school grounds, flag pole erected, from which floats the national emblem from the only country school in Hartfod township. Joseph Liddy and D. Forest Hoff man sized up the town of Bluffton on Thursday of last week. Our people started in last Friday at noon to improve our public thoroughfare. Martz and wife returned last Saturday from a two weeks visit with relatives in Delaware and Madison counties. Eli Hendricks attended quarterly meeting of the Methodists at Pleas, ant Mills last Friday. The next meeting will be held at Salem. Miss Leona Johnson is teaching a very successful term of school at the Valley, so far, and we bespeak for her a continuation of the same. The Pleasant Valley church now shines resplendant, both in side and | out, having just received a new coat of paper on the wallsand earpet on the floor. J. M. Smith has purchased a com husker and shredder and is prepared to do you a good job. He commenced operation Monday and the machine does good work. James Sweigert and Washington Briant, of Delaware and Madison counties. respectively, arrived a week ago on a visit. Mr. Sweigert returned Monday and Mr. Briant remaining. A large number were present and enjoyed them selves fishing at five cents a throw. It was a success.
