Indianapolis, Ind., Jan. 18. — The state board of tax commissioners is arranging for a meeting of the county assessors of the state about the middle of March. Every county assessor will be urged to attend the conference Addresses on the subject of taxation will be made by Attorney General Ketcham. Governor Mount aud members of the board. Frost Craft of Decatur, His., delivered the chief address, and a lifesize portrait of ex-Governor Joseph A. Cunningham of this city, while attending college at Ontario, Canada, was vaccinated a half dozen < r more times during a smallpox scare without success. List week it began to work, and local physicians claim it is one of the most remarkable occurances

Logansport, Ind., Jan. 17.—The taking of testimony in the trial of John Mclntosh tor killing Frank Pottmeyer, the saloonkeeper in November, was concluded Saturday evening. The arguments began this morning and will occupy the greater part of tomorrow. It is claimed the defense has made out a better case than was expected. Ha* Been Married Eleven Times. Huntingburg, Ind.. Jan. 17.—Philip Voeling of this county has been married 11 times and is the father of 27 children. He is 50 years old, and says he will live long enough to marry his 12th wife. Voeling was born in Germany. He came from a family, the ancestors of which settled in New York in colonial times. Crazed Orer Keli|;ion. Columbus, Ind., Jan 17. — Nathan Davis, of this county, attended Quaker revival meetings last week. He is now in jail, being crazy over the excitement. Davis is a highly respected school teacher. Some other people who have been attending the meetings are greatly excited. Will Return to the Ministry. Wabash, Ind., Jan. 17 —Rev. W. J. Vigus, for the last seven years state agent for the American Bible society, and who formerly resided in this city, has resigned and will re-enter the ministry, taking a station in tne North Indiana conference. Brakeman Crushed. Hagerstown, Ind.. Jan. 17.—John Stuart, a freight brakeman on the Panhandle, had his left arm mashed to a jelly while coupling cars here. His home is in North Carolina. He was taken to Richmond and his arm amontated. F Killed by • Train. Elwood. Ind , Jan. 18.—John Ballenger, an old man, was struck and instantly killed by a train yesterday. Ballenger was employed in a planingmiU and was crossing a bridge when struck by the train. He was deaf and did aot hear its approach. Anthrax Among CnMln.
