After the supper was prepaied and everything was nicely arranged, Will, who bad been to the city, came home wearing an expression that seemed as much unconcerned as those that were concerned, but seeing such a number of people surrounding the table, seemed to be very astonishing to Will. He looked as much surprised as a grain of corn would be among a dock ot chickens. After being told of his twent'-third anniversary he understood what it all meant, and be, with his friends, spent the evening very joyfully. At a late hour they all returned to their homes wishing him many more such occasions. The Bicyclist’s Best Friend” is a familiar name for DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve, always ready for emergencies. Several of our people attended the I. O. O. F. re-union at Bluffton, on Wednesday. Tbeives entered the residence of Celestine Dolt, and among other things carried off his clock. Perhaps it was coveted owing to its alarm attachments. Sunday evening, September 12, 1897, at the family residence, occurred the death of Father Emanuel Neaderhouser, who was born in Switzerland, April 14,1816, consequently his age was eighty-one years, four months and twenty-eight days. He emigrated to America in 1844, where four years later he was joined in marriage to Miss Mary Rapp. To this union there were born seven sons and three daughters, of which two sons and two daughters are living. In 1871 death claimed the companion of his youth. During the same year he remarried with Miss Mary Baumgartner. Thisnuion was blessed with five sons and six daughters; five daughters and one son are lining. four sons and one daughter are dead He therefore was the tatter of twenty-one children, ten of whom are living, while eleven have preceded him in death Father Neaderhouser done much that went to the building up of this part of the country. Both the flour mill and saw mill are original with him. The former was constructed in 1827, at first with water power and later by steam. A few years later the saw mill plant was placed. In building churches, and the cause of Christianity generally against them, his purse string never was fastened. He was laid to rest from the Evangelical church, the obee quies being conducted bv Revs. Spangler and Egly. The community and the church, the wife, sons and daughters in sorrow bow with thankful hearts for the life that has been taken by him who errs not.
