HONDURAS. Quite a number st our people attended the baptizing at the Antioch,church last Sunday. Houck & Cline have resumed their saw milling business again Henry Houck is slowly recovering from a long spell of sickness. Teams are passing through here enroute for the pike. They have begun grading at Peterson. J. D. Kreps was at Decatur Saturday on business. John Myers and sons were on a fishing expedition last Friday: They returned with a fine string of fish. Mesdames Bucher and Maurer were at Linn Grove the first of the week in attendance at the bedside of their father, Mr. Nusbaum. Supervisor Rape is fixing up our streets this weeK, which was badly in need of repair. J. T. Burly was attending commissioner’s court at Decatur last Wednesday. Miss Jennine Ford returned home foom west of Geneva. Sunday. Mrs T. O. Galogly and children passed through here on a visit in Jefferson township. W. B. LINN GROVE. Frank Huffman of Decatur, 111., Mrs. Robert N. Kyle of Chicago, and Miss Clara Sheldon of Colorado Springs, Colo., are visitors to the family of Henry Morrow and other relatives. W. L. Emerick and H. W- Graham proprietors of the Huntington feather renovator, have leased the Dr. Haughton property and are prepared to meet the wants of the people in their line. Wm Schlagenhauf moved into his new residence on Saturday last. He being the first to take up his abode in the suburban town of west Linn Grove. Wm. Hall raised a large new barn Monday. The Rifner Bros, specialty show enjoyed a large patronage here Saturday evening, the attendance was far in excess of their accommodations. The comedy part of their show was ancient, being minus forty-two years of being up to date, other parts of the show were entertaining. The Linn Grove base ball nine crossed bats with the White Oak nine last Sunday afternoon. Owing to rain intervening seven innings only were played, the score being 22 to 32 in favor of Linn Grove. The playing was done at White Oak. Clayton Shepherd liquidated his congratulating indebtedness all on account of the advent of a (laughter that was added to his household on Friday night of last week. Andrew Schlagenhauf is about to build an addition to his business room The new part will join his store and bis dwelling and will cut through the north wing of the latter, the same to be added to the store room which will give him a business room of some forty feet in length, which his fast increasing business would require. Died, at his home in Linn Grove, on Monday evening, John I. Njusoaum Mr. Nusbaum has been a resident of this place for some thirty-five years, for some fourteen months he has been confined to his bed, but bore his affection with patience until the stillness of the evening he went in obedience to the gentle command, come! He was borne at Pery District Courtney, Berne, Switzerland, September 27. 1835, and died June 14, 1887, aged 61 years, 6 months and 17 days. While living in the state of Ohio, and at the age of ten years, he suffered the amputation of his right leg occasioned by falling into the cylinder of a threshing machine, A wife, three sons and six daughters, together with brothers and sisters mourn the loss of a kind and true husband, father and friend. KERNE The commencement exercises of the graduating of ’97 of Berne school, which were held at the German Reformed church Monday evening, were a perfect success in every particular. Redkey, Ind., June 15.—The tile and brick works owned by Cole Matland, near here, were burned, also an icehouse. The extensive sheds were full of brick and tile, being dried by heat. The machinery is ruined. The loss will amount to several thousand dollars. Destroyed by Fire. Amity, Ind., June 15. —Alexander Dawson’s large barn near here was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. Over 1,200 bushels of grain and other property was consumed.
