Mrs Levi Gross is lying at the point of death with consumgtion. Died: . August 12, 1896, at his residence in Monroe, David M. Hendricks, husband of Rosa Hendricks, aged 36 years. He was the oldest son of Bazel and Mary A Hendricks. He was born and raised on his fathers farm near Monroe, he united with the M. E. church at 15 years of age and lived a faithful Christian until his death David had been afflicted for many years with that dreadful disease, Elipsy, of which be died. The funeral services were held at the M. E church, and be was intered at the Ray cemetry. LINN GROVE. Mrs. lantoa Mathers of Chicago, is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. John ' Huffman. Wayne, Sept. 9.—The consolidated Electric Railway company of tins city passed •into the hands of a receiver yesterday. The-Hon. John H. Bass and M. S. Robison were appointed by the court on the motion of the attorneys for Frank DeHass Robison of Cleveland. The receiver was asked to protect the company from outside indebtedness, i It is alleged that the appointment was made necessary’'by the fact that J. J. Shepherd of Cleveland, former president of the company, diverted $1,500,000 of bonds which were to be used as collateral security. The company is capitalized at $2,000,000. Elwood with 1,000 men; the Arcade ' Tile works of Anderson, with a part of I their 400 employes; the American Keg company with a full foree; and tiie Union Steel company at Alexandria resumed work under the management of a receiver. There is general rejoicing in Indiana’s gas belt. Urbana, Ind., Sept. 9. —Hundreds of persons from this and surrounding counties are attending the Union Holiness campmeeting. Saturday night ih.ere was a high wind, which blew down the large.tent and the kitchen on the grounds, but did little damage. As many as 2,000 people have attended one ‘meeting. The Rev. Mr. Laughlin, an evangelist of Chicago, is in charge, and the song services are led bv B. H. Kennedy of Hull, Ills. The -meetings will continue all this week. Has Not Been Heard From. Connersville, Ind., Sept. 9, —No trace has been found of W. G. Young, who fled from this city under a cloud, being charged with executing forged checks. The amounts were small, and no very persistent effort is being made to capture him. Young is well know’ll in Sons of Veterans’ circles, where he was given the title of “colonel,” and in which he held prominent positions, lie was also a teacher until overcome by dissipated habits. Over Ninety Nicholson Law Cases. Croyvn Point, Ind., Sept. 9—The September term of the Lake county court convened in this city yesterday with Judge J. H. Gillett on the bench. The docket is the largest in the history of the county, being composed of 681 cases, of which 141 are criminal. One murderer v ill be tried this week, Herman" Hasper, for the killing of his brother-in-1 w, Andrew Defries, last June.' Ove; 90 Nicholson law cases are also to be heard.. Assaulted by a Colored Man. Terre Haute, Ind., Sept. 9. —Miss , Lou Arthur, daughter of a prominent family of West Terre Haute, was seized by an unknow’ii colored man while returning home and was being dragged , into the bushes of the roadside when William Hantz was attracted by her screams and effected her rescue. Her ’ assailant escaped. Miss Arthur had 1 been for some time in ill health and is now completely prostrated.
