A Peculiar Case. Mrs. Martha Sheilds was taken suddenly ill Tuesday evening and her case is a peculiar one. On the above mentioned evening she attended a meeting of the Daughters of Rebecca at their lodge room appearently in the best of health. After the meeting she started for home, but for some unaccountable reason did not reach there until early next morning. Her whereabouts during that time is a mystery On arising next morning one of the boarders noticed that she had not been to bed and was not in the house, but then he did not think anything unusual had occnred and went about his work. When he returned a short time later he found her seated in a chair by thdrstovg, and all his efferts to arouse her were in vain. Dr. Coverdale was summoned and after an examination pronounced it sottensng of the brain. At this writing ‘ she is reported -as ly|ng at the point of death, and no hopes are entertained for her recovery. The county commissioners adjourned Wednsday, and yesterday morning they went to Berne to inspect a gravel road now under construction. The Sunday school of Clark’S chapel will give’ an entertainment Christmas evening, Dec. 24, at the church. Everybody invited. A treat will be given the school and everyone in attendance. ( Jacob Yager has purchased a one-half interest in the brickyard of Henry Mayer. They will _put in neyt arid, improved machinery this winter and be ready for to commence work early in the spring. They will also enlarge the yards. Contractors Suttles ' Weaver and Gaffer have completed the depot at Geneva. The .first two done the carpenter work, while the last two put on tbe artistic work with a brush. They say it .is the finest depot on the road.
