The body had been run over late Wednesday night by a Michigan Cen tral train three miles from Lapeer, but it is believed that Mr. Beecher was murdered and robbed and the body laid on the track to cover up the crime. His watch, shoes and S3O, the contents of his purse, are missing, but the perpetrators of the crime are as yet unknown. Two tramps were arrested at Vassar on suspicion, but were released. Under the laws insane patients who cannot pay for support in state hospitals must be cared for by the counties from which they are sent, if they have a residence in the counties. Patients who have no residence are cared for at the state’s expense. Investigation iias developed the fact that insane persons from Illinois counties, adjoining Scott county in lowa, have been sent over to lowa and taken to lowa as state patients by Scott county Officials. The council declares this has been going on for a long time in other border counties as well as iii Scott, the county officials reaping a rich harvest in, fees and mulcting the state. A thorough investigation will be made. DE.6S AND STRIKES. Laboring Men Must Do Their Striking Hereafter at the Ballotbox.
