I MONBOE. I Monroe has returned to its former self— I all mud. The Monroe teachers held an Institute at school house number 5 last Saturday. A fine time was reported. Now we need gravel roads and will need them very bad until next summer. Monroe court was very busy last week. The docket was opened last Monday morning and will be very thronged with new cases. State vs Knavel was discharged for want of prosecuting witness. Sullivan vs Badders, on account. The plaintiff had no testimony whatever for his cause, while i the defendant was vigilant and secured his I witnesses, consequently the plaintiff paid the costs of the suit. C. W. Hocker et al vs George Hahn, levy on horse; Hahn proved his rights for property and took the horse, leaving our two constables at logerheads about the costs. Hocker vs Rainier, judgement. Execution issued and returned by schedule being filed. • ‘ The fellow that tied Ross Johnson’s horse in the alley was identified and we think he had better speak for a pair of goggles to cover his unsightly eyes. - The new barn on ths Robison farm is 40x100 instead of 80x100 as stated in the Monroe items in last week’s Journal. The report of George Longenberger getting paid for raising the Robison barn is false. He took the contract to build and complete the barn for so much money. Consequently the barn raising was George’s work alone, Robison having nothing to do withit. George feels very grateful and thankful to those who helped him raise the . barn. PLEASANT MILLS. Hill was at Rockford, Ohio, this week supplying his customers with medicine. HARD SCR ABLE. Zaug & Erhard are going to town to-day to get a crank made, as they run their old thrasher by hand next season. . The Top Shelf. Dr. Marshall’s Lung Syrup, has reached the top shelf.
