Fttlk is abla to be about again after a severe attack of lagrippe. Singing school lias been reorganized at No. 0, with Prof. J. T. Coots at the head. J. 11. Fulk was at Bluffton last Sunday. The new F. M. B. A. at this place composed of minors are leading to be a great success. For particulars call on J. 11. Fulk, I). S. Sovine and P. Q. Stout. Things have begun to look suspicious around here, which has caused some of the young folks to think that Miss Rena Johnson has been corresponding with some nurseryman who sends her many beautiful pamphlets and pictures. We hope that we will have a successful . agent soon, are the wishes of all. Root Township Hem*. The protracted meeting at Zion Chapel is still in pregress. Conducted by Rev. Meed. Miss Hattie Swartz, of Van Wert, , Ohio, was the guest of Louis Swartz last Sunday. A number of the Salem class attended thie quarterly meeting at St.e.Paul last Suaday. Perry Tfoag, of Van Vert, Ohio, was in this vicinity last Tuesday on business. Washington's birthday will be celebrated by most of the schools in Root township. A teacher’s institute will be held at . the Luckey school house on Saturday, ■ Feb. 17th. Williard Steele has been very busy cutting ice for the cits. The ice is about five inches thick and of good quality. Peterson Items. Lillie Lewtoa is able to be about again. Nathan Ehrman is en the sick list. Preble boasts of her future oii wells. But it is generally believed that, all the oil there is: is in those large tanks. Ben Hartman, of Craigville. is shipping pulpwood from this place. The farmers are building a sidewalk • from Peterson to Pleasant Dale. Singing school at Pleasant Dale is well attended. Rev. Young is the teacher. Elmer Miller was seen in Peterson last Sunday. Our schools wiil give an entertainment soon. The peaceeds are to be used in buying a library. It should re- , ceive the suppert of all. Candidates are very numerous now, as election day is near. Miss Lucy Baughman, of Decatur, is now visiting antoag relatives and friends at this place; The teachers of Blue Creek township held their faarth and last Institute at District No. 4. last Saturday, at which the presence of Prof. J. F. Snow made it interesting as well as instruc- ' tive. Charles R, Hetler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Hetler, died Feb, 3, aged 18 years, 6 moultbs and 3 days. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Morace Kobo, of Willshire, Ohio, at the M. E. Church on Monday afterternoon.«Feb. 6, after which his remains were taken to the . Tricker cemetery, followed by a host of affectionate friends and relatives. During the funeral services the Epworth League offered some resolutions of respect in honor and memory of the spotless integrity of their departed friend. St. Pan! When candidates are fairly noininate in conformity to these rules, it is the dutv of all g'XXI Democrats to support them, and we the representatives of the Democracy of Adams county, Indiana here assembled pledge ourselves to vote for and use al! honorable means toelect each amfevery candidate nominated at the nex_t primary election in cotjformity with the rules lierein laid down.
