Marion is looking well and says his health is much better than it was some years ago. The Presbyterian Christian Endeaver Society fed one hundred and thirtyfive persons at tbe charity dinner given at Pattersons Hall on Christmas day, the dinner jieing an excellent one was freely partaken of by many of the little uYehius of poor families in Decatur. Oliver son of Alpheusand Edna Acker of Pleasant Mills died Wednesday Dec. 26,1893, age 1 year, 6 months, and 15 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Friday afternoon Dec 22, by Pastor IL 11. Smith, assisted by Paster Job!) Freeman Most of the Factories of Decatur —- have commenced opperation Three Saw-mills, one Box factory, and one Heading factory are now running, after the new year opens a new Heading and Hoop factory will start, all of which will give employment to about two hundred men which will give great relief to the working element of this city.

Christian Selking, one of the most respected citizens of Root township, died on Thursday night last of LaGrippe, and buried on Saturday at tbe St. Johns Church. He was 69 years of age. Henry Genthner, Sen-, of Preble township, died last Tuesday of ty phoid fever and was buried from the Reformed church on Thursday. Gregg, surprised him and his estimable lady by presenting him with a tine house coat and Mrs. Gregg with an M. E. Hymnal. Miss Minnie Christen, daughter of John Christen, Jt., of Root township and organist for she Concord church, was the recipient of a beautiful pin tray, presented to her by the members of the chufch as a tosen of respect for her services. With the beginning ot 1894, the Decatur Journal will pass into the hands ot C. W. Cone and 11. S. Tenbrook, ot Ewing, Illinois. The gentlemen come among- us well recommended. We extend to them the right hand of fellowship and bid them welcome. The congregation ot St. Peters church so Root township, will build a new parsonage this summer. E. society of the I’resbytei-ian church did a noble Christian work on Christmas day, having by previous arrangements prepared and fed 135 persons. Old and young all partook freely and seemed to enjoy the good things set before them by the generous hand of that society, and the happy recipients return thanks to that society for their kindness shown to the poor of this city.
