Those youngster who are in the habit of disturbing singing at No. 5, had better lake heed. Union Township Tit-Bits. There is a great deal of sickness in this i ownship. The picnic held at Clark's chapel on last Saturday was well attended. Mrs. Nellie Meyers is lying very low with typhoid fever. There will be an ice cream social held at Berger’s lawn, this Saturday evening. Proceeds for the benefit of the Union Chapel church. ' Newton, son of Joseph Johnson, was seriously kicked in the face by a horse last Sunday evening. Miss Emma Miller left last Monday for Middleport, Ohio, where she will attend school Pleasant Valley Hems. Hosea Ray, of Marion, is back in this country again. Jim Martz, the traveling showmail, is back home again. He returned last week. Miss Mertie Valentine and Mrs. Spangler returned from an extended visit to relatives in Farifield, county, Ohio, last week. Peter Kessler who has been working in Mercer county, Ohio, was here visiting relatives over the Sabbath. Miss Lillie Hardesty, of Gas City was visiting her parents last Sunday, Prof Coots closed one term of singing Tuesday night and organized a class for , another term. The prodical son, Jake Wable, who has been rusticating in tlie wilds of Paulding county, for the past few months, returned to the bosom of his family last week. Let the fatted calf be killed, and may there bejnuch rejoicing. Moon Eye Items. Prof. Suman, of the Marion Normal College, after a short visit with his brother, O. J. Suman, left for Chicago, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. O. Suman and Miss Nola Beery. W, E. Hower, principal of the First ward school of Decatur, has returned from Chicago after a two weeks visit to the World’s Fair. Saturday, August 19 is the date on which the St. Paul church will bold their 8.8. celebration. Everybody is invited to attend. Mrs. Knavel, of Union township, while visiting her daughter, Mrs. Mm. Cross, was taken seriously ill, but is now much much better. David Mahan, who has been working for a wholesale establishment at Columbus, Ohio, is visiting his parents here. Mrs. Anna Williams, of Huron, Ohio, is ,he guest of N. B. Mathewson. Monroe No. 2. Henry Laqghrey was elected as teacher at the school meeting Wednesday. Mr. Ray was defeated by a vote of Bto 21 in favor of Laughrey. Monroe M. E. Sunday school will attend the Decatur union picnic. Several of our citizens attended the funeral of Jra Blossom at Decatur last Tuesday. , T. L. Baker and wife Sundayed at Monroe. Mary E. Hendricks and Hattie Sells were at Decatur last Monday. Sam Martz, G. W. Ogg, J. W. Hendrscks wife and daughter, started for Kentucky on the first inst. Jefferson Township Hems. Trustee Laughlin has purchase,d and erected a new steele wind mill. The picnic at Commissioner Fetters last Saturday evening is said to have been a a grand affair. T. F. Golden and J. C. Moran, of this township,-were kt Decatur last Saturday attending teacher’s examination. What the people of this township want and what would be'greatly to their interest is a good gravel pike from the Jay county line to Decatur; then we could go to the city and pay our tax and attend to business apd return'lioum the same day. any time of fire year, and not having the expense and inconvenience of staying over night and loosing two days time. Colorado, Mr. M. grew to manhood among us, and was principal of our school three seasons and is now a member of the bar at his home. A story is told of a Decatur young man.
