The latest information we have shows a | marked improvement in the business center of the country. With the large impor- [ tjitionof gold from Europe this week be- ; ’tween nine and ten million dollars and 1 More to come; The fact that many national 'banks are now buying U. 8. Bonds at the present market value, with the intention of ■depositing them with the U. S. Treasurer, taking out the highest limit of circulation, which is about eighty-five per cent of the ■capital stock, whereas most of the few previously, had only the minium. Say a bank with a capita) of #IOO,OOO would only deposit with the U. S. Treasurer $25,000 in bonds and get $22,500 in currency. So if ■only the larger banks in the big cities take out the limit, it would necessary put many millions'of dollars more of currency in ciiculation and naturally aid in the movement of the large crops raised in the U.S. this .year, and for which there is such a large export demand, and with a shortage of crops in the old country, there is no doubt but that the prices for our products might materially advance. * - In connection with the above, we want to ■call the attention of the citizens of this county toour local banks; the. stockholders, directors and officers of which all are men of means and more titan the average qualilicatipn.for their successful management, ami moreover they have all been identified with the best interests of the county for two score years or more, ami their honesty has never ifee'ii questioned.
