Linn Grove items. Sylvester and Arta Sheldon, who have been working in Wisconsin for eight months past, returned last Saturday io vote for tariff reform. E. Morrow and family, Mrs. Jacob North and daughter, Jenny, and Miss -Clara Kizer, of Bluffton, where visitors to their many friends here on the Sabbath. Geo. Heller moved from his farm to his new and commadous house at Berne on Tuesday. ; L. C. Miller, of Decatur, was here the latter part ot laat and the first of this week. ‘ While here he, Jumbo, and other* selected the better day of the week to break a pair of mules. The team took a fast line and soon anchored Jumbo by the side of a post, when he at once Issued his proclamation that he was not in it, while L. C., with his well known tenacity, held to the straps, tearing down fence corners at intervals as they went on, but the trainercatne out best. The election on Tuesday here was as quiet as the day thereof. 17 Republican votes cast in the north precinct falling 4 votes short as polled, Martin for congress fell 5 votes behind his ticket, while Daly fell behind one vote; Hocker on the prohibition ticket received one vote, being the only one cas- for that ticket. A very pleasant affair took place on Thursday at the residence of Mrs, Mary French in the marriage of Mr. John P. Steiner to" Miss Lydia French. Rev. Turnay officiated. The happy couple were the recipients of several useful presents. After partaking ot a sumptuous marriage feast the newly married couple left for Berne where they took the train for Bloomington. 111., where they will pass a portion of their honey moon. May their pleasure never decrease. John Flors, of Hartford City, came home on Tuesday to vote for Cleveland.
