' Hon. A; N. Martin will be here November 3. TO THE DEMOCMTi C VOTERS OF ADAMS COUNTY. But a few days will pass until you will exercise that privilege that every American citizen should be proud of, —to cast his vote for the candidate of his choice, for the different offices to be filled. The democratic party has, by her primary election, decided who these candidates are. In the selection the party made no mistake. While there may be some personal reasons why a democrat should vote against an individual, there can be no reason why they should vote against the ticket they have helped to nominate. Only on some personal reason, or some act ot the candidate, should democrats vote against the nominees. If any of you doubt this, go to a republican—one of your neighbors—and ask him to vote for Mr. Cleveland, and see how quick he will tell you that he is a Republican, or that he will have to vote for the nominee of bis party, — no matter who that nominee may be. Did you ever know of one of them voting anything but a straight Republican ticket? They are now chuckling over how they have fooled the democrats. They have no use for a democrat. In the lan guage of the Republican candidate for Governor, Ira J. Chase, when he said: “The Democrats were Imps of Hell, and if he had a mind to swear, he would say, God Damn them to Hell.'' Thus you see, the Reverend gentleman expresses the feeling of the party towards democrats. Still they are now asking democrats to vote lor republican candidates for office. Most clearly is this demonstrated in the county here, when they offered to deliver their vote for eight hundred of the democrats of the People’s Party. They fully control the ticket of the people’s party in the county. It is a straight republican ticket; hatched in the republican head quarters in the City of Decatur. Tne republican bosses, formulated the ticket, but were careful to see that none but republicans were put on the “ticket. How frequently on our streets have they expressed themselves “that it was a good republfi can ticket.” They have their henchmen in the field instructing democrats how to vote; so as to vote for a republican under the guise of his being a people’s party plan. There is but one candidate on the ticket but what has said at different times that be was as good a republican to-day as before he was placed in nomination by the people’s party. They are still ready to vote for Harrison and the State Republican ticket on November 8. ' !_■!—l! The laborer that votes the Republican ticket votes to deprive his wife and children of one-third of his earnings. Let the democratic majority of old Adams county swell to the June of 2,000 on November Bth, next. Remember that you are democrats.
It is tile custom of good people everywhere to confess their weakness, and especially is this the case with their sins. We are expecting a confession from the religious weekly in reference to his state, ments regarding General Sickles. Sickles is a Democrat and will support the entire ticket. Mr. Editor, come and confess, anc( you will really be surprised at the easy feeling that will repose as a halo of peace around your sinful heart. «■. ILL 1 “'■■J C If you want to vote a SRAIGIIT DEMOCRATIC TICKET, stamp within the BIG SQUARE containing the ROOS lER at the top of the. ticket. If you stamp within the big square you must NOT stamp »nywhere else on the ticket or you. WILL LOSE YOUR VOTE.
