Over 75 persons were present and were all mkde happy over the event. Long may Mr. and Mrs. Ward-live, and live to see many happy events. W. C. T. U. Notes. The State W. C. T. U. convention just held at Marion was the 19th annual gath ering of the kind held in this state, and was the largest and most enthusiastic ever convened. The Marion unions deserve unstinted praise for the admirable manner in which they provided for and entertained the conven'ion. Every ch meh in the city, but one opened its doors on Surdky, and invited the ladies of the convention to occupy the pulpit both morning and evening which invitation was accepted and eloquent and earnest addresses delivered from each. Mrs. Mary A. Woodbridge, of Ravena, Ohio, the World’s and Nati< nal corresponding secretary was pres ent from Friday till Sunday and gave three public addresses, the last at a mass meeting on Sunday afternoon, held in the opera house, which was crowded to the doors Mrs. Barnes, of New York; National Secretary of the young women’s branch, also assisted at the mass meeting, and delivered three or four addressej. Our state officers were most of them present, and were kept busy frem Thursday until l?fe Tuesday night, discharging the duties of their various offices, and planning for lulurework. Meetings were held at the Soldier’s and Orphan’s Homes. A W C. T. U. of colored women w«» organized. • A grand medal contest was held, and alto gether a vast amount of good work accom plished. The wri'er aid Mrs Mann were royally entertained at the elegant resi dcnceofMr. H. Keller, wholesale chajr manufacturer of Marion. Their carriage was at our disposal for trips about their beautiful city and the different points of note pointed out. Mrs. Keller accompanied us to the Soldier's Home and to the large plate glass works where we watched with much interest the process of making window glass. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison entertained the Decatur ladies one evening at an elegant* lunch, which with their society was greatly enjoyed. Our visit to Marion will long be pleasant ly remembered, as’defrom the intellectual teas t of the convention. The W. C. T. U. will meet at the home of Mrs. Dan Myers next Sa’urday, Oct. rj, at 2:30 p. m. All members are requested to attend, as the annual election of officers will take place at that time.
