Monroe Items Mis-s Lydia Yager visited Mlt# Frano Thompson last week. Prof. Martin closed his week* musical convention last Saturday evening. The Monroe Vocal Glee Club gave the slumbering citizens a call last Friday night when the stars shone the brightest with as fine singing as can be produced In the county. Friday evening of last week Miss Agie Rainier entertained a few friends at her home. Among those prerent were the Misses Lydia Yager and Sadie Weaver, of Decatur. The quarterly meeting at the M. E. chuTCh was very entertaining last Sunday Seven probationers were received in full fellowship with the church by the elder. All j oung ladies. Johnson left for Angola last Saturday wh.re he will remain un'il next Aug .'St when he will graduate from the normal college at that place. The ice cream social given on the farm of J. P. Johnson, for the benefit of Rev. Underwood was a success. The total receipts amounted to $61.53. $35 of which was given to Rev U nderwood. Thursday of last week a large delegation left Monroe headed by two large wagons loaded with Sunday school scholars and teachers for the Sunday school picnic at Decatur. The wagons were profusely decorated with flags and bunting All returning perfectly satisfied with the day.s enjoyment Friday evening of last week Dr. Andrews, of this place, was summoned to Berne, to professionally attend the case o'" 3oung Clem Smith; who had either accidentally or c reltssly got his left leg mashed at the Berne stave factory. However, when they become familiar with the term, they will find that it is only a new name for the infant. Sugar would have the same sweetness by some other name.
