Michaud has accepted a position at the grain ware house with C. A. Aug spurger, who is now sole owner of the business. Berne is now favored with a night watchman. J. A. Clouser having been chosen as such on Main sreet from 9 p. m. until 4 a. m. R. K Allison, Jeff Lehman, F. K. Shaefer, P. M. Waggoner and several o’hers attended the Republican state con vention at Fort Wayne, Tuesday. Wm. Sheets met with a very painful accident while engaged at work mending a barrel. A piece of iron struck him in the right eye and is causing him much pain and will probably lose the sight of that eye. Town trustees met in regular session last Monday evening. Among some of the business transacted by the board was the re-appointmer.t of C. A. Augspurger as school trustee to serve as such for a term of three years. I Childiens Day was observed here by the Evangeical Sunday school on last Sabbath. The entertainment given in the evening was very interesting, instruc'ive and beneficial. Mrs. Josephus Martin, and a little son of John Snyder are each nursing a broken arm, occasioned, the former by tailing down a flight of stairs and the latter by falling 01. . og, John Heller and Miss Caroline Lehman, of Fort Wayne, Mrs, Levi Baumgartner, of Ellwobd, Frank Heller and wife, of Poneto, are visiting fronds in and around town. Children's Day was observed at both the Baptist and Evangelical churches on last Sabbath. The former at to o’clock a. m. and the latter at half-past two p. m. Both churches wire tastefully decorated tor the occasion. The iiitle ores enjoyed their speeches, while the singing was simply enchanting to over crowded houses, Prai.e is due the ladies of both churches for the energy put forth in the successful termination of these entertainment-. A number of the friends of Elijah A. Mann concluded to remind him that on last Saturday evening, 36 years ago, he set up a howl for his rights which he has been attempting to maintain, ever since, until that evening when without his knowledge or consent he was taken in hand by a number of his friends and at the time contrary to his wish was set in a big arm chair, which had been purchased by his friends for him on this special occasion.
