Smith, of Decatur, who was followed in prater by Rev. Mahan. The singing and music was excellent with Rev, Freeman as leader. Rev. Hoffman is getting to the fron as a florist. While his mamma was away from home a few days ago, he went forth with sythe in hand to renovate the door yard, as he supposed of weeds, sweet Williams and Other flowers were cut down while a huge thistle standing in escaped the sythe ot the fell destroyer. L. L. Dunbar, Dr. Keckler, James and Charley Rohn, Emil Lichty and Joe Liddy, went to Celina fishing oh last Friday returning on a better day, having some of the gilled animals, but the supply was insufficient for the demand. With much difficulty and with pledge on honor that they would keep near to shore was Dunbar got on board of the boat at the reser voir, Honor served for awhile, but later the vessel cut ;or deeper water and Mr. D. found himself three half miles from s.hore, however,he soon became familiar to navigation so that he lay down in the bottom of the craft and went to sleep, dreaming oi the sport he was having in angling the monsters ofithe deep, by actual count he caught one little fish during the trip. An attractive parade was witnessed bj our people of al! ages on Monday afternoon. Amos Herrtnan hitched up his Indian pony destined for Geneva, . the pony*laid down and refused to make the trip. Coaxing and whipping was of no avail to get it on its feet again, a log chain wis put about the neck and a horse hitched to the end thereof, after being, thus dragged a few rods the necklace was abandoned and the animal was now per--'tailed to ari-e and was hitched bv the side of old Teli.'ible, but positively refused further commands. From one ip three of t"e spectators volunteered to do the whlp- ' ping which the pony took in a sitting p isition and in good humor,, by persua ions too nufner ms to mention a tempoI rary compromise was effected and the ’ trip consumateri.
