Japhet Neuenschwander is working on the farm for Jake. Bovs of this township are left. The girls are after some ot the Wells countv boys. Yet these same boys are not able enough to possess an overcoat. Tramps are numerous in this vicinity, there were three at Christ der’s for dinner last Thursday. Just keep «n tramps, there is a pile of wood ready for you. Many of our farmers take the Democrat to read the French township items, but it missed several times, and so we wi’l write again, and they won’t be sorry they take the paper. , Jacob Myers, township assessor, met Road Supervisor Tanner working on the roads, Myers of course got on the grader to show Tanner how to operate it. Evervbody think that Meyers will resign his office and go to practice to be a supervisor. Rudolph Schugg had quite an accident Saturday night. He had a runaway of six horses, four of them was in one harrow and two in the grain drill. It is supposed that the horses started on account of his hand tumbling over and knocking his head against the grain drill when away they went, but no one hurt. Linn Grove Items. John Reynolds moved into the Ensley property lately vacated by Emil Lichty. Married, on April 23d. at the office ot Frank Moser in Vera Cruz, Frank Heller to Pauline G :, gon Edwin Heller has resigned his position in the Cornet band, and Rufus Kress has taken his place. John Reynolds left here for Chicago on Friday where he will remain for the next two or three weeks. The Linn Grove band was out on our streets breaking the monotony with sounds tjarmonioasly blended. Excessive heavy rains is very discourag ing to tillers of the soil in vetting out their crops. So far but little plowing has been done for corn. Sherman and Wm. Glendening and Eugene Lindsey are the first to utilize natural gas in Hartford township. Their heating, lighting and culinary work is ail done by (hat commodity. The oil wells recently completed on the lands of Wm. Shoemakerand Dr. Jacob Me Dowel are each yeilding one hundred barrels and over per day. They rank with the best producers in the oil fields. Theodore Schlagenhauf who went to Markle about one month ago as an apprentice in the harness business, has rehome to remain. His father sat s that Tode is entitled to a diploma in that art - Andrew Schlagenhauf, pur P. M., is now filing a bond with the post office department to supply a long felt want, namely, a postal note and money order office, with which our people will be favored in th# near future. We note the following changes in real estate in town: Dr j. A. Abe Sp unger & Co shipped the finest car load of horses to Philadelphia that has been shipded this season. It is reported that a new firin is about opened up. known as Lugabill ft Schwartz, oealeia in live stuck. They will deal principally in horses. They are hustlers as they go out before breakfast and make purchases of horses. Farmers having horses to sell should call on this firm as they are both very accommodating gentlemen. Honduras itema. Ask Jewel Earhart, of Magiey, how he likes Honduras people. George Statler, of Delphos, Ohio, is here visiting his parent. Mrs. Isaac Bowman is quite sick. There is little hopes of her recovery, Issac Sautbine feels proud once more, all because he is grandpa again. J. B. Stoutenberry is very busy docto r ' ing horses. Jay is a splendid doctor. Eggs are quite plentiful in around Honduras, which makes Jack Roush feel happy. Mrs. John Ashbaucher who baa been very poorly for some time is able to be out again. How beautiful the wheat and grass is coming out, and everybody is looking forward to a bountilul harvest. Everybody is wondering if the rubber factory has fell through with. It is rumored that Hen. S has sold out. Miss Bell Woodruff who has been visiting Miss Ivy Ashbaucher for the past five weeks, will return to her home at Frank fort Ind., to morrow. , Some people say the surprise was a grand affair, while others say it was rather slim. There were about twenty present, and William Cline, we suppose, was moie than surprised wnen he came hotnp Sunday and saw so many had gathered at his home, all for the same purpose—to surprise William. He received quite a number of presents. «. There was quite a battle fought near Honduras on last Monday evening, in which there were shotguns and shovels used. It was all on account of the husband coming home from town and his wife found he had drank a glass of beer. In a short time after he got home the wile and,two sons tiled their skill by using the shovel, when he became en raged and got the gun. We are afraid the militia will have to be called out to take charge of Henpeck. Monroe Items. John Hurt says the frogs around Monroe are regular ventriloquists. Drug clerk wanted at Monroe, address lock box 20, Monroe, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. B. Majors are both confined to their bed under the care of Dr. Beavers, of Decatur. Chris Hocker was cut over the right eye last week by a horse rearing and striking him with his foot. If there is any' o'her accident around Monroe, we know not except a bran new girl baby at Amos Brandyterry’s. John Sut'iff was struck in the right eye with a spike nail while trying to drive it. John goes limping around with a bandanna around his head. Oh Fridav of last week, Wes Pease met with a painful accident by having two fingers on his right hand sawed so badlv that amputation was necessary. Dr. An drews performed the operation. Gene thought that was a good idea.
