THE DECATUR DEMOCRAT BY A. J. HILL. Friday, January, 5, 1883. An assort will be made to get the legislature to make an appropriation to drain the Loblolly. It will in all probability be only an effort. There is considerable curiosity to know how Gov. Porter will treat the constitutional amendments in his forthcoming message, whether it will be “key note” or otherwise. The Evangelist Barnes is in New York. His main effort will be direct ed toward the religious re-construetion of Beecher, Tilton, Talmage and men of their way of thinking. Kirkland ItemaFather Weldy bought three car loads of hogs in the neighborhood of Peterson last week. Charles Bryant is spending a couple of weeks with his father near Indianpolis. Elixabeth Crum is visiting relatives and friends in eastern Ohio, and will be absent several weeks. Every body will cease wondering why Jo. Weldy looks so happy when they hear it is a bouncing girl. Wesley Selby has on hand sixtyeight coon, twenty-two mink, seven skunk and about six hundred musk rat skins, mostly of hi.’ own catch. Bub.
