He is bound to occupy the presidency of something, if not his country. —Governor MeClelL.', of New Jersey, is of the opinion that special education is needed in this country. While this may be true, ths Governor is not himself a shining example of the results of a system of this character.—lndianapolis Herald. If the above was intended for wit nothing could be duller, —if it was intended for truth it only makes the writer ridiculous. The Hertdd fills the bill as a “has-been.” —The widow of Sheriff McCorkle, who was killed last fall by a republican ruffian, died last Monday a week. She died from a broken heart, caused by the tragic death of her husband. The Wabash Courier truly says : ‘ The killing of Albert McCorkle and the dy- j ing of bis widow of a broken heart pre- ;
sent features fully as sad, to say the least, as the Chisholm tragedy in Mississippi, yet the Republican party has ; failed to take as much notice of them.' —As a rule the Democratic press of Indiana oppose the action of the Deiuoeratic caucus at Indianapolis in giving the complimentary vote for Senator to Gov. Gbay. The latter is almost universally respected and admired by the press, but the insult to Senator McDonald was great and wholly uncalled for. The latter has served his party, and served it ably and well, and had it not been for the obstinate selfishness of Thomas Henericks he would have been the nom’nee at the Cincinnati convention.
