F. A. JELLKFF. The following is a synopsis of the remarks made by E. J. Lampton at the burial of Dr F. A. Jelleff, July 15, 1880: ‘•We can scarcely realize that before us lies all that is mortal of Dr. F. A. Jelleff, and within this narrow coffin home we shall soon deposit this casket that contains the body of one of earth’s noblemen. The deceased was born in Steuben county, N. Y., on the 15th of February, 1829, and was hence 51 years old. lie was a man of fine natural power and gave evidence of having improved his God-given powers; hence he took broad views of all subjects. In the great field of medical thought he had spent much of his life: was conversant with every theory of medicine and a skillful practitioner. He was a man of decisive character; a warm friend, and as kind a neighbor as it has ever been ni’, - privilege t<> live beside; a faithful husband, and 1 doubt not a loving father. He spoke freely his mind upon all subjects; hence when he condemned men or measures it was because he felt he had a good reason for so doing. Hi's mind was clear up to the last moment. He told his faithful wife he was ready to die. On my return from the state meeting, one week before he died, though so feeble he could not speak above a whisper, he made inquiry into all the particulars and remarked what a fine field this is to preach the gospel in. He has gone from us. We shall see his face no more. A truly devoted wife, three children and an aged mother mourn their loss. You to whom he committed the interring of his body, when on this grave you look. I beseech you remember his wife who has watched by him in his long affliction with such . tender care and may she ever find in your order a constant and true friend as she walks the dark and sad pathway of life. May you all who stand here around this last resting place of this our friend and neighbor remember that a few more fleeting days and we too must bow our heads in death, let us then so live that our dear Redeemer may say to us: ‘Come thou blessed of my father enter the joys of thy Lord.’ ” Obituary. [Kearney Comity (Neb.) Bee.] Died July 28, 1880, Mrs. Maggie M. Blood, wife of Dr. John Blood. Mrs. Blood was born in Adams Co., Ind., Aug. Bth, 1847, and came with her family to Minden, Neb., Sept. 4, 1879; was taken sick June 2nd, 1880 with spinal fever and on the fourth day of her illness went into comatose condition, from which she never recovered, but passed calmly and quietly away, to behold the King in His beauty.’ Funeral services from Cor., V. 1. Mrs Blood s death leaves a vacancy in the society of our little town that can not be easily filled. The purity of her character, her ladylike bearing toward all whom she came in contact with, and the deep interest she manifested in the hopes, fears and sorrows of others, born of a high resolve to be Christ-like in her dealings with the world, made her a woman whose friendship and esteem can not be too highly prized. Her watchword was “work.” Work for God and humanity. Although a model wife and mother, she was never so deeply engrossed with self or selfish interests but that her listening ear caught the first whisper of suffering in our neighborhood. She has brought sunshine and peace into many desolate hearts that now mourn her departure and will not be comforted. She leaves to the care of her husband and their aged parents four children that already in the formation of their character exhibit the noble principles taught by a Christian parent. May God deal with society as it deals with the children of such a niother. L. S. | In August, when every person feels ' languid and debilitated, a person cannot be too careful of their health.
