1 Reunited After 23 Years Apart NEW YOK (UPI) — Mrs. Stefanija Rukas, who was kidnaped from her Lithuanian home by the Soviet police in 1941 and interned in a Siberian labor camp for 15 years, was reunited Friday with her husband and daughter she had not seen in 23 years. With Christmas joy expressed in tears, Mrs. Rukas was greeted by her husband Konstantinas and their now-grown daughter Nijole. She was whisked to her new home in Connecticut and a sumptuous holiday dinner. ■On June 13, 1941, as a precaution against a mounting wave of Stalinist terror against Lithuanian intellectuals, Rukas, a school principal, took 3-year-old Nijole away from their home in Kaunas. They found refuge at the nearby farm home of Rukas’ mother. Mrs. Rukas, then 34, remained at home. The secret police came that midnight and sent he off to Siberia. Not un'il Friday, in an emo-tion-fraught reunion at Kennedy International Airport here, did Mrs. Rukas again set eyes on her husband and daughter. With tearful hugs and kisses, the Rukas family was reunited on Christmas. It also was Mrs. Rukas’ 58th birthday. Nijole, a pretty 26-year-old brunette graduate student, cried unabashedly and said of her mother: “she looks wonderful.” Mrs. Rukas, her dark hair now flecked with gray, also was in tears. “I am so happy but I am also very tired,” she said. Her long separation from her family was climaxed by 20 days of traveling. Snowballs Irk North Koreans SINGAPORE (UPI) — The Communists in Korea complain that the cold war has gotten colder at a sentry post in the truce zone, it was reported oday. Radio Pyongyang said the Reds have filed a formal pro- . test with the truce commission, charging that U.S. troops have taken to throwing snowballs at Communis sentries and making “offensive gestures.” “Between Dec. 6 and 20, guards of the U.S. side threw snowballs at the Korean-Chi-nese sentry post 12 times,” according to the broadcast monitored here. “They also made offensive gestures to provoke personneL on the Korean-Chi-nese side.” - Three Seminaries To Be Accredited DAYTON.
