Goal is to save the 3,200-year-old temples, with their colossal 65-foot statues, from inundation by the rapidly rising Nile waters backing up behind tfie new Aswan High Dam. The temples will be dismantled, block by block, removed and reassembled on the plateau 225 feet above their present site. Photo shows the area of activity.
