Presbyterians To Dedicate Hymnals At 10:30 Sunday morning a special dedication service will be held. As • kind of announcement of the opening of the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the organization of First Presbyterian church a complete set of 200 new hymnals called "The Hymnbook” and a complete set of new Communion Vessels will be dedicated. Not only will this signal the beginning of Anniversary observances but it is appropriate for the church to rededicate themselves as a people of God at the outset of a new year. “The Hymnbook” is being made available as a part of an individual tithe given through the Perpetual Fund of the church. It is an edition prepared by five cooperating Presbyterian and Reformed Church denominations first printed in 1955. It has many good qualities commending it above other kinds of hymnals. For instance, hymns that were written too high for many average voices have been scaled down a note or two for easier singing. The more familiar words of such hymns as “Silent Night” are used. The harmonization of a great many hymns has been altered to add more verve and movement to the hymns. There is a rich choice of old familiar hymns that the church has not been able to sing with the present Hymnal. The Communion Ware to be dedicated consists of six bread trays and six wine cup 0 ’ trays which can be stacked on the Communion table. A cover for each of two bread tray stacks has been provided and a base and cover for each of two cup tray stacks. This will eliminate the need for a covering cloth in the service and will eliminate the scattered appearance of so many individual pieces as formerly used. The Board of Deacons is providing the Communion Ware from the Deacons Fund. Ibis is made possible from the loose offerings received on Sundays when Communion is observed. The Board is responsible for the preparation of Communion elements used lor the Sacrament. It was the desire of the Board to have this new Communion Ware for the Service of Communion and Installation of Officers .in January 3rd. They looked upon shis as a fitting way to open the observance of the 125th Anniversary of the church. Members and friends of the church are urged to attend, especialy since a portion of the service will be given over to a hymn-sing using old familiar hymns now contained in this new Hymnbook. I d° You WLY 1. What is meant when people say of a man that he is “a regular Jonah”? 2. THE BETTER WAY The word "loyalty” la not found in the Bible but the idea permeates the entire Scriptures; indeed the Bible might be considered the struggle of the soul of man to work out his loyalties and the discovery of the highest loyalties. Some objects of loyalty are high, others low. The loyalty determines the man. Loyalty itself may not be a virtuemay even be a vice. When we examine facta, what we need is not more loyalty but more intelligence. Many of us are two loyal - loyal to the wrong thing. It is loyalty to a party which makes it so difficult to break the power of political gangsters; it is loyalty to a social set that of ten makes us forget fundamental principles. Loylty to a creed or a certain denomination may be detrimental to the extension of Christ’s kingdom. It is not more loyalty we need, but more direction to our loyalty, a clearer view of our goal. It is important that we have a higher loylty to fuse all lesser loyalties into one. DO YOU KNOW ANSWERED 1. That he brings misfortune as the sailors thought Jonah brought the storm at sea. 2. Ezekial. 3. Daniel. . 4. March. It lasts 7 days. » 5. Caesar Augustus.
