Early Christmas Mailing Is Urged ‘‘Please try to mall your out-of-town Christmas packages by Saturday," John Boch, Decatur postmaster, asked Decatur area mail patrons today. Also, Boch stated, "please pack your parcels eehdly. A tightly stuffed package , with northing rattling around inside, will have much less chance of being damaged on the way. May Be On Bottom "And when you pack a gift, remember — it may be on the bottom of a mail sack, with many heavier packages on top. Improper packing is the usual cause of damage in transit,*’ Boch explained. "Just to be on the safe side, insure all your packages," the postmaster advised. Each year half a million packages eannot be delivered because of poor packaging, or incorrect or illegible addresses. How To Address Parcels should be addressed on one .side only, but should include the address on the inside of the package too — just in case the outside wrapping should come off. "And 'be sure to put ydtir ZIP code number on your return address, and on the address you're sending to, if you know it — this will speed handling of your package. The Decatur ZIP code number 46733. Use ZIP Code "When you get mail from friends — especially once-a-year Christmas cards, copy off the ZIP code so you’ll know it next year. And be sure to buy yours on all return addresses, and on all stationery you have printed. “During the rush this month, more than 12 billion pieces of mail will be handled by the post office. You can help speed your mail by paying attention to. “1 Proper packing of the package. "2 Address outside and inside — correctly. "3. Include ZIP number on address and return.” Fort Wayne Woman Charged In Assault A Fort Wayne woman was arrested and two others are being
