SORORITY MEETS WITH MRS. BIXLER The Delta Theta Tau sorority met at the home of Mrs. Gerald Bixler Tuesday evening. Mrs? John McConaha, president, presided at the meeting. The JDelts will again sell popcorn oh the three Santa trains, December 5. The proceeds will be given to the Good Fellows project, sponsored by the sorority. Mrs.'M e 1 Weisman is chairman of the Good Fellow protect and Mrs. Henry Neireiter will be in charge of the telephoning. Mrs. Charles Buckley of Jani Lyn told told how a well dressed lady can look smart and ‘ chic by choosing the right accessories to go with basic costumes. She displayed some of the new accessories and gift items. Mrs. Bixler, assisted by Mrs. Weisman and Mrs. Franklin Lybarger, served a delicious luncheon from a beautifully decorated table displaving the Thanksgiving theme. The next meeting December 8, will be a Christmas dinner at the Fairway at 6:30 p.m. and a party and gift exchange following at the Spangler residence. Those not attending should call Mrs. Neireiter before December 6. IW»S. DeLONG IS CLUB HOSTESS Eighteen members, one guest and ten children, were present at the home of Mrs. Robert DeLong for the Root township home demonstration club monthly meeting. Mrs. Ralph Rice, president, led the group in repeating the club creed and Mrs. Royal Friend gave the devotions. Mrs. Fred Kunkel led the group in singing the song of the month, “For the Beauty of the Earth,” and gave its history. The minutes were read and the roll call was taken by Mrs, Wilson Beltz. Mrs. James Moses gave the health and safety lesson and Mrs. Russell Fleming gave the lesson, “Is It A Bargain.” Following the welcoming of a new member, Mrs. James Roop, refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Robert DeLong, Mrs. James Moses and Mrs. A.

Mrs. Herman Von Gunten will be the leader, speaking on the subject, ‘ ‘Massachusetts. ’ ’ MEET AT VFW POST RECENTLY The Cooties and auxiliary held their scratch and meeting at the VFW post recently. Guests present were the following: grand surgeon, Tom Davis, Fort Wayne; past district commander, Curly Longsworth; grand junior vice commander, Russell Morris, Elkhart; grand secretary of auxiliary, Mrs. Russell Morris, Elkhart. Full discussion on hospital work being done at Marion Veterans hospital and of items being made for Christmas for children’s homes by the patients took place. The latest new member, Helen Davis, was appointed secretary for the remainder of the year. The C. of A. scratch will be held at Hobart, December 5 and 6. There will be a scrap wood, scrap uphostering and toys to be repaired and records to be taken to the hospital. These articles have been donated by the auxiliary for the hospital. There will be a joint Cootie scratch and auxiliary meeting tonight at 8 o’clock. Faces Charge Os Failure To Provide Patrick J. Hackman, former resident of this city, was taken into custody in DeKalb county Friday on a bench warrant from the Adams circuit court. Hackman was returned to this county Friday afternoon by sheriff Roger Singleton to stand trial on a charge of failure to provide. He is being held under SSOO bond in the Adams county jail. Both Hackman and Jerry L. Wheeler, 28-year-old resident of route 4, Decatur are due to be arraigned in the circuit court Monday. Wheeler is charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication, after he allegedly used a gun to shoot the lock off the door at the home of his former wife in Decatur Thursday afternoon of this week: One Driver Arrested Following Accident Two cars were damaged and one driver arrested following a 9:30 a.m. accident today at the intersection of Adams and Tenth streets. Ira G. Bodie, 75, of 318 S. Tenth St., was traveling north on Tenth and had stopped for the stop sign at the Adams street intersection. Two westbound and one eastbound'cars all passed on Adams and then he pulled into the intersection, tout directly into the path of another eastbound vehicle. The car, that struck the Boble auto, tfas operated by Manuel Jauregui, 59, of 846 N. 13th street. Damages were estimated at $325 to Bodie’s auto and $275 to the Jauregue car. Bodie was ticketed by investigating city police for failure to yield the right of way and cited to appear in city court Monday at 9 a.m.

Standing wedding vases of white gladioli and large pink mums bedecked the altar of the St. Mary’s Catholic church this morning for the wedding of Janeen /Ann Augsburger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Augsburger, and Patrick Lynn EUenberger, son of Mrs. Joyce Ellenberger and the late Mr. Ellenberger. The 10 a. m. double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeoq Schmitt Organist Mrs. John Girard played selections including "Wedding Prayer,” “Take Thou Their Hands and Lead 'Them,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of white peau taffeta and imported alencon lace, touched with seed pearls. The lace appliqued taffeta bodice was fashioned with an oval neckline and elbow length sleeves. The controlled floor length skirt was detailed with a bow at the back of the waistline. The detachable taffeta train was appliqued with lace and was chapel length. Her bouffant waist length veil of imported French illusion was caught to a crown of alencon lacb, seed pearls and Receives Thanks For Library Donation Miss Ruth Ann McCullough, a 1964 graduate of Adams Central, has received a note of thanks from Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy for her contribution to the John F. Kennedy memorial library. The note stated: “The president’s family and I wish to express our deep appreciation for your contribution to the John Fitzgerald Kennedy library. The reality of this library will serve as a perpetual memorial to the president and we are grateful for your support.” Six Openings For Local Army Reserve Applications for about six young men who have not (ulfilled their mili‘ary obligations will be accepted by the local Army reserve, according to battery commander, Ist Lt. The empire bodice was fashioned wdth a scoop neckline and long sleeves. The princess line skirt was floor length. She wore a headpiece of rouge red velveteen leaves with a bouffant veil. She carried a long line arrangement of shell pink large mums and small pink rpums with satin streamers. Mrs. Michael EUenberger, bridesmaid, was attired identical, to the honor attendant. Michael EUenberger served his brother as best man and Greg Ellenberger, brother of the groom, and Russeß and Darrell Augsburger, brothers of the bride, were ushers. The bride’s mother chose for her daughter’s wedding to wear a copin blue velveteen sheath dress with matching accessories. The groom’s mother was attired in a green and white suit, white hat and black accessories. Each mother wore a pink rose corsage. A wedding dinner was held at the Four Seasons restaurant for approximately 20 guests. A reception will be held in the Moose home frorr> 2 to 5 p. m. for approximately 300 guests. 12 Men Killed In Navy Plane Crash ANCHORAGE, Alaska (UPI) —Twelve men were killed Friday when a Navy patrol plane crashed into a hill four miles north of Cape Newenham in western Alaska while on a routine ice reconnaissance mission. The bodies of 11 of the men were recovered Friday night by Air Force radar station personnel, the Navy announced. "Die plane had taken off from the Kodiak Naval Air Station. The plane, a P2V Neptune bomber, was based with Squadron VP2 at the Whidbey Island, Wash. It was stationed on rotating assignment at Kodiak. A Navy spokesman said the plane reported no trouble on its last radio transmission. Cape Newenham juts into the Bering Sea between Bristol Bay and Kuskokwim Bay about 340 miles west of Kodiak and about 450 miles southwest of here. Names of the victims were not released pending notification of next of kin.

Third Man Is Held In Kidnap-Slaying CHICAGO (UPI) — A third man arrested in connection with the kidnap-slaying of an Indianapolis man was scheduled to go before a U.S. Commissioner today for a preliminary hearing. The FBI said Robert Lazzaro, 27, Chicago, was arrested and charged with aiding and abetting Philip Battaglia and Ray Thorburn in the kidnaping of William Loomis here last ~ month;' The FBI said Lazzaro, described as Battaglia’s roommate, was present when Loomis was kidnaped. Battaglia waived a preliminary hearing Friday and is being held without bond for a federal grand jury. Thorburn was taken before a U.S. Commissioner at Springfield, Mo., Friday and was turned over to a federal marshal pending a removal hearing next week. Loomis, 39, was abducted 1 here. Battaglia and Thorburn said they forced Loomis to go to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with them after answering a 1 newspaper advertisement Oct. 15 for the sale of the victim’s sports car. Blizzard Blankets Upper Great Lakes By United Press International A blizzard spawned from the mountains continued to blanket the upper Great Lakes region today. Chilled rain fell across to the lower Mississippi Valley, and tornado-like winds hit Louisiana. Heavy snow warnings were posted for northern Wisconsin. Savings Bond Sales Decrease In State INDIANAPOLIS (UPI — Indiana sales of U.S. Savings Bonds during October totaled $10,633,984—9.6 per cent less than in the same mon h last year. Three more inches of snow fell in northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and western upper Michigan. Showers and thunderstorms .fell across central and lower Michigan to the lower Mississippi Valley. Peoria, 111., and St. Louis were soaked with nearly two inches of rain. Northeast Arkansas received similar amounts. Wind storms described as tornadoes hit several north Louisiana areas during the night. Damaging buildings and knocking down trees and wires. There were no apparent injuries. The twister caused extensive residential darhage at Marksville, La., where a home and a house trailer were destroyed. At Bastrop, La., several farm buildings were (destroyed. Sca’tered snow fell from the central and northern Rockies to eastern Washington and Oregon, Spokane, Wash., recorded two inches of snow in six hours, bringing .its total to five inches on the ground. Local heavy amounts of rain poured into the central and northern Pacific Coast region. Nearly an inch felL at Cape Blanco, Ore., and at Crescent City in northern California.
