Bunkhouse Room Great For Boys A boon for young brothers is a bunkhouse bedroom. This idea makes maximum use of minimum space —a solution to a common problem. Arrangement of custom-built bunk beds at right angles, one on the lower level and the other above, gives each boy more light, better ventilation and more storage, according to’ Masonite Corporation. Drawers for Equipment Drawers under the floor-level bunk give one lad storage for toys and hobby equipment Under the overhead bunk is a roomy closet with swlng-out d<x»rs for clothes storage, and a shallow cupboard topped by open shelves rises from the floor to the top level of the mattress. A library-type ladder is attached to a metal bar so the occupant of the upper bed easily can climb in from the side or over the shelves at the end.

If laid over a wood floor, the new surface should be applied over a hardboard underlayment for a more permanent installation. Otherwise, the joints will mirror through to spoil the appearance and shorten the life of the wearing surface. Familiarity Gets Tiresome! It's Time To Change As the years roll by. accustomed surroundings become so familiar that, without one's realizing it. they become dated Take a living room, for instance. Problem — Washed year after year, the paint has become thin and spotted: in some places it has started to flake. Remedy — Change the room's color scheme by freshing up some walls with paint and adding an accent of woodgrained paneling, such as Masonite's Royalcote, a prefinished hardboard available in attractive types and colors. Problem — Though the room is large, it offers no privacy for a high school student who has a desk in one corner. Remedy — Install a room divider or folding screen, making it of 'lumber and filgree hardboard in attractive cloverleaf or camelot pattern. Helpful also are two panels of Pfg-Board, paint quality or walnut-grained in the desk corner for holding supplies, books, souvenirs, hobby displays. Problem — A cold-appearing blank wall which needs a touch of hospitality. Remedy' — Create a floor-to-eeiling series of open bokshelves As a background panel, contrasting with adjacent painted walls, select a woodgrain Masonite hardboard, which sets off the books and is durable. An objective glance at other rooms will suggest a variety of low-cost alterations and additions which will modernize the appearance and living qualities of any l hottie. - <■ V'

The Santa and reindeer display is broken into two sections so that you can build Santa by himself or with his sleigh and team. n ui The patterns are available from most lumber dealers. When building the set, all you do is trace the patterns on sheets of 3/8-inch exterior plywood then glue the heavy paper design to the wood backing. There’s enough plywood left over from the panel to make a stand so that the display stands upright. If waterproof exterior type plywood is used and the pattern carefully applied, the display will last through several seasons.
