HOAGLAND HIGH By Gevers After presenting their speeches and answering questions before the county PTA council, the panel of four high school students was asked to present these same ideas again, this time to the entire Hoagland PTA. Monday, October 26, this meeting was held. Rick Dumford, Sandy Hook, Jean Tyler, and Marcia Gevers, substituting for Viv Schuller, spoke. — H. H. S. — Tuesday, many new members were inducted into the Hoagland FTA. The organization has now grown to 46 members. Several FTA members are planning to attend an area workshop to be held next Saturday, November 7, at Miseissinewa high school in Gas City. — H. H. S. - Many of the group pictures for the yearbook were taken Wednesday. There are still mariy to be taken at a later date. — H. H. S. - The latter part of the week was filled with testing, to the dismay of most of the students. All the seniors took an Air Force test Thursday. Freshmen and juniors took the IOWA tests of educational development Thursday and part of Friday. - H. H. S. — Go, Wildcats. Winl Tuesday night the Wildcats opened their ’64-65 basketball season by hosting Rock Creek. Four seniors, two Juniors, and six sophomores have been selected by Mr, Boyer, the Wildcat conch, tor the varsity team. Congratulations and good luck, boys! — H. H. S. - Looking ahead to next week also means looking ahead to ond-of-ihe-quarter tests. The nine weeks have moved by so fast! Both the teachers and the nt Honglnnd are hoping that the honor roll list will be enlarged. We'll soon see.

MONMOUTH HIGH By Nancy Knieefccberg Class meetings wer» held Tuesday morning They all discussed the various activities going on in each of their classes. — M. H. 8. — During the class meetings Tuesday, the sophomores were fitted tor their class sweaters and jackets. They are anxious to get them. — M. H. S. - The students were given a preview of the basketball team Thursday, October 29, when the basketball kick-off was held in the gym. The varsity team played against the second team, and defeated them. It also gave the student body an opportunity to see the team’s training requirements. Everyone is ready and waiting for the first game! - M. H. S. - The Future Teachers of America held its first meeting Wednesday morning. Anyone wishing to join the F. T. A. is to contact Miss Linn, the advisor. - M. H. S. — Max Hobbs, Democratic candidate for congressman for the fourth district, spoke to the student body Thursday. He explained some of the points of this year’s election. After explaining the issues, he answered questions the students asked him about the issues. < — M. H. S. — Ttw Monmouth band competed in the Halloween parade at Decatur Saturday. They were among the nine bands participating. Congratulations, band, on a fine job. — M. H. S. - Some of the cheerleaders went to Converse, Saturday to attend a session concerning cheerleading. Those attending the meeting were: Connie Reinking, Shirley Scheumann, Joyce Railing, LaDonna Braun, Karen Kunkel, and Kathy Schieferstein. — M. H. S. - The freshmen and senior* were given the tuberculin test Monday by Mrs. Grabill. — M. H. S. - Friday, November 6, the Monmouth basketball team will play its first game of the year. ADAMS CENTRAL HIGH National education week is November 8-14. Monday night of that week, Adams Central will observe an open house of the entire school. The public is invited to visit the school this night to view the fine facilities available at Adams Central. o - A. C. H. S. - The high school band ended its marching season last Saturday night by capturing the first place award at the Decatur Halloween parade. This was the last parade for the seniors, so they were especially proud of the band’s performance. The junior band also participated in the parade, and they looked great, too. Congratulations, bands, on a job well done! — A. C. H. S. — Monday night the Sunshine girls and their fathers enjoyed the annual daddy date night. Each girl, with her dad as a date, played games on the gym floor, after which refreshments were served in the cafeteria by several of the fathers. . — A. C. H. S. — The Jets’ basketball season starts this Friday night. We will entertain the Leo Lions on our home floor. Jets, we are looking forward to another great season, so let’s get off to a good start with a victory Friday night. — A. C. H. S. — The band will put on a show entitled “Mr. President” at the half of the Adams CentraLLeo game Friday night. The music department is responsible for special entertainment at each home game. <. — A. C. H. S. — The Dramatic club is now working on its first play, "Grandpa Hangs the Holly.” The cast is composed of Ron Steury, Kathy McKean, Don Raudenbush, Ken Habegger, Janice Soldner, Carmel Strickler. Rita Mattax, Karen Bieberich, Sharon Bercot, Susan Wagley, Judy Ringger, Cheryl Isch, Janet Smith, Deanee Ayala, and Linda Genth. The cast will be rehearsing from now until Christmas. — A. C. H. S. - DECATUB CATHOLIC HIGH By Patricia Bdrorger During the past week many members of the speech and drama club have tried out for the Christmas play. The finalists are: Teresa Heimann, the woman; Mary Lengerich, the apple women; John pecker, Martin; J&rry Murphy, Stepaniuth; Jim Heimann, Gerasim; and Tony Kohne, Ilya. Stage crews will be posted later. We know with this fine cast that we should have •a wonderful play. - D. C. H. S. — The student council is planning on erecting a student court. There was a very spirited debate on this topic at the last’student council meeting. This court would be very useful and helpful to our school. - D. C. H. S. - Many students were present at the lively yearbook-sponsored dance last Friday. All who had already bought or sold a yearbook subscription were admitted to the danoe at no charge. Others purchased admission tickets at the door. - D. C. H. S. — The Speech and Drama club meeting held this week on Monday and Thursday included speeches and tryouts. Most of the members are overcoming their stage fright. — D. C. H. S. - D. C. H. S. was treated to a political symposium Monday afternoon. Cynthia Carroll and Dan Zintsmaster presented the Republican case; Joy .Deßolt and Peggy Mcßride gave the Democratic views. Everyone learned more about his own political convictions and about that of his opponents. In the mock election after the panel, the final results were: Democrats, 310; Republicans, 56. — D. C. H. ganizing a swinging pep club this year They would appreciate it very much if all students interested in joining this organization would contact them in the very near future. — D. C. H. 8. — This is national children’s book week slogan: “Swing into Books.’’ Searchers for biographical material on auttiors will find two new biographical dictionaries in the reference section of the library; namely, British Authors before 1800, which contains 650 biographies and 220 portraits; More junior authors, a companion volume to the Junior Book of Authors, containing 268 descriptions of guthors and illustrators of books for children and young people. In the Story Collection, students will find an anthology of Famous American Stories and other books. Directives to Lay Apostles, a book of Papal documents, biographies of great men, and sports stories are also available. - D. C. H. S. — The faculty and students are grateful to Mrs. Cletus Miller for donating the Universal Standard Encyclopedia to the school library. The students also say “Thank You” to the faculty and to all the members of the parish who supply magazines for reading and reference, and back issues of magazines for binding purposes. — D. C. H. S. — DECATUR HIGH SCHOOL By Darlene Richards Friday the Yellow Jackets rallied in the last quarter for 21 to 14 victory over the Angola Hornets at Worthman field. D. H. S. is very happy to extend a proud “thank you” and “well done” to the team members and their coaches. — D. H. S. — Cheerleaders — Pam Hefner, Cheri Jacobs, Barb Conrad, Carole Mitch, Linda Kenworthy, Shelley Jones, and Sandy Single-ton-reserves recognition for doing a fine job of doing their part in backing the team. — D.
