Max Hobbs For Congress Decatur-born, Monroeville-raised Max Hobbs, prominent young Fort Wayne attorney, should get your vote for Congress this time, and if you but consider the facts, you will understand why. The Republican incumbent, an aging seventermer running for an unpreeendented eighth term, *—Jia» a dangerous, reactionary voting record that makes Barry Goldwater look like a liberal! In fact, he is so proud of his record that recently he sent out mats showing him accepting the so-called Service Award of the notorious ACA, half of whose officers are active members of the semi-secret, antidemocratic, right-wing extremist John Birch society. There is no question but that Adair and others of his ilk are in the service of the ACA —a veritable front organization for Birchers. Their record and their own admission proves it. Os course, like all extremist right-wing groups at present, the ACA claims to be conservative, and "for the Constitution.” But what Constitution and whose Constitution? Certainly not the American constitution? In truth, they plan to alter and change, by amendment, the very character and nature of the Constitution, taking away all PERSONAL guarantees, and basing ALL Constitutional rights on PROPERTY alone! This is totally contrary to even the most conservative of the pro-monarchists of the days of 1787, and certainly contrary to the majority, then, ever since, and now. Conservatives — true conservatives rightly believe in keeping the American Constitution. But they also believe in personal rights, and keeping them, as well as property rights. They believe in the Democratic process of majority government, with a Constitution to protect fill minority interests. They believe in orderly, sane government, and debating issues, not personalities. If you believe that all the good moral people are in one political party —- or that all Democrats are conscious traitors betraying their country to Godless Communism — or that one crook and one pervert in government indicate all 2% million appointees of the. president are crooks and perverts, and that by changing patties you will guarantiee no crooks or perverts — then vote for Adair. You deserve him 1 ■ ' But if you believe that there should be two parties in the American system, and that no one party has the monopoly on being correct, that we need two strong parties, one a little conservative, the other with a few new ideas each year to test by public debate, and if acceptable, pass — then vote the congressman who will help you, the Democratic party, and Lyndon Johqson if he is elected “’Nov. 3 — Max Hobbs!
