Hartke oh Monday will return to Washington to receive .the 10th anniversary commemorative medal of the Assembly of Captive European Nations. The\ standard deduction is taken by those taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions. Under tfie old law. the minimum standard deduction was 10 per cent for all taxpayers. The 1964 law set a S2OO “floor” on this for lower income groups, giving them a slightly higher percentage. For instance, under the previous law. a person earning $1,500 a year would have received the standard 10 per cent, or $l5O. Now, this person received the standard 10 per cent, or $l5O. This credit for each exemption is in addition to the S6OO he receives for each dependent in the other Section of his form.
