PRESIDENT CONDUCTS BUSINESS SESSION The Everready Sunday school class of the Methodist church met recently in the church lounge. The opening prayer was given by Mrs, Lloyd Cowens, followed by devo tions by Miss Iva Gilpin, who read a meditation on “Light Unto My Path.” She also read Psalms 24:1 and Psalms 8:6 and closed with prayer. A group of hymns were sung with Mrs. Paul Edwards acompanying on the piano. The secretary read the minutes of the September meeting and 15 members answered the roll call. After the business session, conducted by the president, Mrs. W. P. Robinson, Mrs. Paul Edwards, program chairman, read the “Open Door,” written by Faith Baldwin. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Gall Baughman, Mrs. Harry Sipe, and Mrs. Fred Busche. PANTRY SHOWER GIVEN FOR BRIDE-ELECT Miss Janelle Roth, bride-elect of Gale Riley, was the guest of hon-_ or at a pantry shower Sunday af-’ ternoon. Hostesses were Mrs. Steven Riley and Miss Kathy Donovon. During the get-acquainted period each guest told how she met her husband. The bride-elect then opened he many lovely and useful gifts. The Gals and Pals home economics club will hold their regular meeting at the Hanna-Nuttman park pavilian October 12 at 7:30 p.m. This will be a Halloween party. ART DEPARTMENT OF WOMAN’S CLUB MEETS The Art Department of the Decatur Woman’s club opened its 1964-1965 season at the home of Miss Joan Wemhoff, Monday evening, with 20 members in attendance. Mrs. Bernard Clark, department chairman, opened the meeting with the club collect. Members were urged to attend the first meeting of the general | club, October 19 at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. Tracing his life from the year 1475 to his death, she related his early interest in art and his desire to be a sculptor. His most famous painting is the fresco in the Sistine Chapel and the carving of note, the beautiful Pieta which was brought to the United States for viewing at the New York War M’s Fair. An announcement was also made that Twentieth Century Fox is also filming the life of Michelangelo, “The Agonz and the Ectasy” with film actor, Charlton Heston, in the title role. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. Miss Wemhoff, and her committee, Mrs. Harry Heuer, Miss Eleanor Pumphrey and Miss Kathryn Kiuffman. Locals Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lutes are in Detroit this week attending the national meeting of FTD district representatives. Lutes is the FTD representative from this district. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johnson, of Decatur, visited in Rome City Sunday with Mrs. Johnson’s mother, Mrs. Ed Whitright, who fell recently at her home and suffered a broken right arm. Births At the Adams county manorial hospital: Marlin and Sue Suman Lautzenheiser, Wren, 0., became the parents of an 8 lb., 8 oz. baby girl at 11:33 a.m., today. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE •HOLD ENROLLMENT The Women of the Moose held enrollment Thursday night with senior regent, Miss Dean Baughman, presiding. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Herbert Fravel. Mrs. Robert Dull gave her report on their trip to the Marion chapter Sunday, where they were invited to put on the enrollment pledge. There were also nine academies present. Mrs. Steve Sutton was welcomed as a new member. Mrs. Agnes Cable, in charge of Mooseheart, introduced her committee in charge of refreshments as Mrs. Floyd Balliet, Mrs. Otto Baker, Mrs. Dora Cook, and Mrs. Elizabeth Scott. The next meeting will be held at the Moose home October 15. CHARITY CIRCLE OF UNION CHAPEL MEETS The Charity Circle of the Union Chapel church met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Cleo Landis. Mrs. Ferris Fox was the leader for the evening lesson. The topic was “Under three flags.” The hymn, "We’ve A Story To Tell To The Nations,” was sung by the group. The scripture lesson was taken from Mark 11: 1-9. The following persons took part in the lesson: Miss America, Mrs. Doyle Egly; Miss Spain, Mrs. John Walters; Miss Puerto Rico, Mrs. Thomas Gaunt; Miss Cuba, Wilma Hirschy; Miss Mexico, Mrs. Cleo Landis; Voices, Veda and Frieda Williamson. Following the above pageant, a discussion was held on the lesson. The closing benefiction was taken from Romans. During the business session, an election of officers was held,.Those elected were chairman circle leader, Mildred Smith; secretary, Wilma Hirschy; treasurer, Janet Roughia; secretary’ of spiritual life, Veda Williamson; secretary of Christian social relations, Betty Walters; secretary of missionary education, Phyllis Egly; news reporter, Pat Gaunt. Lovely refreshments were served to the 10 members and four guests present. « ALPHA PI CHAPTER MEETS NEAR BERNE A recent meeting of Alpha Pi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma society was held at the country home of Mrs. Agnes Shormaker near Berne. Mrs. Pearl Glendening, program chairman, introduced Mrs. Helen Macklin, who gave a very interesting report on the book, "Syrian Yankee,” by Salom conducted by the president, Mrs. Rizk. The business meeting was Alma Bennett of Bluffton. After the business meeting a delicious lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Pearl Glendening, Mrs. Frieda Lehman, Mrs. Helen Macklin, Miss Mary Schlagenhauf, Mrs. Rowena Stucky, and Mrs. Agnes Shoemaker. Members were present from Wells, Blackford, and Adams counties. The next meeting will be in Bluffton in November. I ROY TOPE CELEBRATES 80TH BIRTHDAY Roy B. Tope, son of the late William Tope, celebrated his 80th birthday October 3. He has two brothers, Harry and Russel. He taught school in his early life at the Moser and Hurless schools in Wren. In his later life, he was in business in Tipton, Connersville, and Glenwood, where he now lives

Schumm Benefit At Wren On Saturday TW Mark Schumm benefit, sponsored by the Wren Lions club and the Willshire community group, will be held Saturday evening at the Wren, 0., school. The pancake-sausage supper will be served from 5 p.m. on, and the public is invited. Mark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Schumm of Willshire, suffered a serious eye injury,' and proceeds will go to defray nteJicay and surgical expenses. Tickets may be obtained at the coor Saturday or from any member of the Wren Lions club or the Willshire Sportsmen club. Cub Scouts p Den Two Cub scout den 2 met at' the home of Mrs. Tom Schlotterback Monday after school. Present were Tom Schlotterback, Tony Isch, Steve Strickler, John Schauss. Tom Maloney, Mike Fruchte, Nelson Hesher, Mark Hesher, Mrs. Roger Fruchte, Mrs. Tom Schlotterback our Den mother, and Mrs. Robert Strickler. Our den mother said we were going to hunt some bark and moss to use for a project. We gathered together and were taken to Mrs. Robert Strickler’s home.
