County Harrier Meet To Be HeU Monday
Geneva will be out to repeat its 1983 triumph when Adams county's six schools battle in the annual county cross-country meet at One Limberlost golf course near Geneva Monday afternoon. Geneva is the host school, and the Cards will try to add a second straight title to the one they won last season, when they nipped Adams Central by four points. Starting time Monday is 4 o’clock, and Harry Anderson, South Adams athletic director, will serve as the meet’s official started. Competing will be the county schools, Geneva, Berne, Adams Central, Monmouth, Decatur Catholic and Decatur high. Lose Back Back to defend his top individual laurels will be Johnny Lose of the Commodores. Lose won the 1963 county meet in a fine 9:48 clocking, though only a sophomore. He may be hard-pressed to repeat this season, however, as he hasn’t matched that time this year and has been under 10 minutes only once. Monmouth has a pair of top runners Ted Buuck and Danny Conrad, while Decatur’s Dave Adams will also be a treat. Adams Central has a well-balanced squad with four or five top individuals. . —— Geneva will be paced by Stahly, Habegger and Bixler in their bid to return. They finished 3rd, sth and 6th respectively in last year’s meet. The order in which the six teams finished last year, with their point totals, was as follows: Geneva, 38; Adams Central 42; Decatur high, 94; Berne, 96; Decatur Catholic, 111; Monmouth, 140. Limberlost Meet Geneva will also host the big Limberlost Invitational meet next week which is expected to draw teams from eight schools, in addition to the host team. Trophies will be awarded to the teams finishing first and second, ancj to the top individual runner. The meet is scheduled for Thursday afternoon of next week, and will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Rainbow layout. Seven runners will compete from each of the nine schools,
which pre as follows: Decatur, |)ecatur Catholic, Portland, Dunkirk, Winchester, Berne, Geneva, Monmouth and Bryant. Anderson will again act as timer.
