PATSY LEADERS' TO SPEAK TO CLUB Mrs. Paul Erp will be the hostess to the Happy Homemakers home demonstration club Tuesday at 7:30 p.m, Mrs. Patsy Lee Leaders, county home agent, will be the guest of the club and will bring the lesson for the evening. All members are urged to be present at this meeting. Several Fines Are Assessed In Courts John V. Mendoza, 21, of 909 N. 12th St., paid a fine of $1 and costs, totaling s2l, in justice of the peace court today. Mendoza was arrested Thursday by the city police and charged with public intoxication. Fines of $1 and costs, or $18.75, each were paid recently in city court by Arthur Funk, 33, route 6, Decatur; George Belina, 46, Rockford, O.; and Ronald Leroy Perkin 29, Jackson, Mich. Funk was arrested May 20 on a reckless driving charge, while Belina was cited for an improper pass September 22. Perkin was ticked for speeding August 5.

VALPARAISO GUILD . HAS QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of the Valparaiso Guild will be held at the newly built Redeemer Luth- ■ eran church located one half mile south of Convoy, 0., on Highway 49. The Decatur chapter has been invited by the Van Wert chapter of the Guild. This meeting will be held October 8 and is, scheduled for 8 p.m. The guest speaker will be Judge Kathryn Harrington from the juvenile court pf Van Wert. Since she is a well known authority on today’s problem, her topic, “Juveniles,” should be quite in- | teresting. One of the main points of bus- ' iness will be the report on the recent convention held at Valparaiso. Another matter on the . agenda will be the distributing of the program books lor the coming year. Unable to attend but sending a gift whs Mrs. Dave Ellsworth. HISTORICAL CLUB OPENS SEASON The Historical club held their opening meeting of the 1964-65 season Wednesday at the Country Charm. The nineteen members present enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner at 12 o’clock. Mrs. Doyle Gehres asked the blessing before the guests were seated. Fall collors of yellow, orange and russet were used in the decorations. A large bowl of beautiful fall flowers was used as a centerpiece. Table settings were marked with a flower on the place card and candy corn in cups that carried out the same color motif. Following the dinner the club president, Mrs. Clarence Smith, conducted a short business meeting. She then asked for roll call and each member answered by relating her activities during the summer recess. The nekt meeting will be October 14 with Mrs. Dave Campbell as hostess. She will entertain at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Ehinger. The committee in charge of the opening meeting was Mrs. Doyle Gehres, Mrs. Dave Campbell, Mrs. Will Dellinger, Mrs. Martin Worthman, Mrs. Henry Adler, Mrs. Fred Hancher, Mrs. Ed Miller and Mrs. Clarence Smith. Locals Harry R. Frauhiger, 243 N. Fifth Street, is leaving to attend school in Woodside, Long Island. He will study there for about a year. Elmer Henricks, 13th and Adams streets, was taken to Bluffton Clinic last Monday and was operated on this morning. He is the "foreman at the Citizens Telephone company. His room number is 262 for anyone who would like to send cards. Missy Mayclin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Mayclin of 1004 N. Monroe street, was one of ten chosen to serve as “Goldwater Girls” at the reception for Senator Barry Goldwater in Indianapolis, Thursday. Miss Induna of 1963 was also chosen. Both she and Miss Mayclin are members of Kappa Altha Theta. Miss Judith Elaine Clark, daughter of Mrs. Kenneth Clark, i 1201 Powers street. New Haven, and the late Kenneth Clark, and David Allen Ross, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Rolen Ross, 1403 Master Drive, were united in marriage at the New Haven Methodist church in a double ring ceremony. Dr. Newman S. Jeffrey officiated the ceremony that took place September 26 at 6:30 p.m. Decorations were vases filled with white gladioli and blue mums. A candelabra graced the altar. Organist for the occasion was Paul Hagen, Fort Wayne, and Jan t Swank, New Haven, was soloist. Selections included "O Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly.” Given in marriage by her brother, Ronald Clark, the bride wore a princess style gown of satin peau. The bodice and front of the skirt featured alencon lace. The back of the skirt flowed into a chapel length train. Tiny seed pearls and crystals adorned the lace of the bodice and full length sleeves. She carried a cascade of white roses with a pink rose center. Her waist length veil was caught to a crown of pearls and crystals. Her maid of honor, Janet Clark, sister of the bride, chose a ballerina length gown of blue taffeta with a royal blue pleated cummerbund and a fu 11 length overskirt. She wore a matching pill box hat with a short veil. She carried a single white mum with blue streamers. Her bridesmaids were Miss Candy Ternet, friend of the bride, Miss Joan Clark, sister of the bride, and Miss Deborah Hackman, cousin of the bride. They wore dreses and headdresses identical to the honor attendant and carried identical flowers.

Her flower girl, Diana Stewart, cousin of the bride, wore a dress identical to the bridesmaids and carried a basket of white and blue pompons. Jack Meyer served his friend as best man. Jerry Lister and Jerry Liby, cousins of the groom, and Don Poling, friend of the groom seated the guests. Randy Ross, brother of the groom, was ringbearer. He carried the two rings on a heart shaped pillow with white streamers. The bride’s mother wore a green sheath sea niist crepe dress With > a hat and gloves to match to her daughter’s wedding. The groom's mother wore a royal blue wool dress with a feather hat to match and white gloves. Both mothers wore white orchid corsages. A rehearsal dinner was held Friday night at the Betsy Ross Coffee Shop, Fort Wayne, for 24 guests. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. A white lace cloth with blue tapers covered the table. The four tier cake with miniature bride and groom was the centerpiece. Serving at the reception were Kay Neurge, Sue Certman, Lana Ternet, Linda Doctor and Bee Shapen. For her wedding trip to northern Michigan and Canada, the bride wore a gray and white checked suit with a white blouse and a pink corsage. The bride is a graduate of the New Haven high school and is employed by Preble Plastics, New Haven. The groom is a graduate of Decatur high school and is employed by Strato-Flex, Baer Field. The couple is at home at the Country Court, highway 27, Fort Wayne.

GIRL SCOUTS Troop 222 On September 29 each patrol packed food and utensils for a cookout and headed for the fire site at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Girod. The fires were built and the meal was prepared. The new cadettes learned many new skills and the older girls reviewed many of them. On the dates of July 28-30, 12 of the girls took a lifesaving course at die home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Girod. The course was given by Cameron Parks, from Garrett. The girls camped out and cooked their own meals. During the three hours in the morning and afternoon they drilled one-hour on land and two in the water. Each girl learned forms of approaching a drowning person, carrying him to shore and articicial respiration. After three days of hard work they were rewarded by a small, but very important junior life saving badge. Scribe, Reamilda Harrell Fort Wayne Driver Faces Three Counts Thomas Joseph Steckbeck, 33, of Fort Wayne, was charged with three counts by the city police Thursday night, and has been scheduled for trial in city court Tuesday, October 13. Steckbeck is charged with driving while under the influence, leckless driving and public intoxication. He was arrested by police on Winchester St. at 9:35 p. m. Thursday. The Fort Wsyne man is in custody at the county jail, but was scheduled to be released sometime today after posting S3OO bond.

Suffers Injury In One-Car Accident Ralph Oliver Shady, resident of Tocsin, was injured’ln a one-car accident west of Decatur at 5:45 p. m. Thursday. Shady was admitted to the Adams cotfhty memorial hospital for observation and treatment of an tailed right hand, facial lacerations, chest and left side rib injuries.. The mishap occurred two msfs west of Decatur on U. S. Sit. when the Shady car left the and traveled approximately 4SPO feet before striking a tree. Shady explained that he had just left; a local physician’s office, where le had received an injection, anl tad not feel well at the time. Damages to his auto were estimated at $l5O by investigating officen state trooper Gene Rash and deputy sheriff Warren Kneuss.
