Fish Distributed For Ponds, Lakes
Six Adams county residents, Arlen Mitchel, L. Luther Yager, H. S. Burry, J. O. Tricker, Jack Zehr, and Dr. Robert Boze, last week landed tremendous catches offish at, of alb places, the sidewalk in front of the Decatur public library. While fishing is not a new library- sponsored activity, the street adjacent to the library was where the U. S. department of interior’s fish and wildlife service chose to deliver fingerling red ear and channel cat fish to county pound and lake owners who had applied to the agency for its free fish supply service. The fish which the local men received last week came from the department’s fish hatchery in Rochester. They were delivered in a special truck by John Hawkinson, an employe of the hatchery. The department supplies fish, in fingerling size only, at no cost for the stocking of private ponds and lakes, as well as public waters. There are two deliveries made each year. In the spring bass and bluegill are sup-* plied. In the fall, red ear and channel catfish are delivered. Jerry Setser, work unit conservationist for the Adams county office of the U. S. soil conservation office, listed the requirements for receiving fish. They
