McMillen Could Win City Meet This Evening Roger Stevens tossed a no-hit-ter Tuesday night in the City Softball League tournament, as McMillen nipped Decatur Casting Co., 3-2. In the first game, Adams County Trailer Sales eliminated Vernor’s Ginger Ale by an 8-3 score. The victory placed McMillen in a position whereby they could win the double-elimination tournament tonight. At 7 o’clock, the frailer Sales and Casting Co. battle in a loser’s bracket game, with the loser eliminated. The winner of the game must go against McMillen in the nightcap, and should McMillen win, they will cop the meet without a loss. Should either the Trailer Sales or Casting Co. hand McMillen its first loss, then the championship game would be played Thursday night. Score Twice - The Casting Co. scored twice in the fourth inning without the benefit, to tie the score at 2-2. McMillen, however, scored the winning run in the last of the fifth when Kenny paumgartner doubled with one out, and scored on Jerry Voglewede’s two-out single. The winners jumped into a tworun lead in the first inning when Baumgartner singled and scored on Jerry Voglewede’s double. Voglewede then scored when Stevens aided his own cause with a one-base blow. A pair of walks a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by losing hurler Les Linn produced the Casting Co. runs. Stevens whiffed 10 batters and walked five in tossing the first no-hitter of the season in the local league. First Game The regular season chamipon Trailer Sales nine, upset by the Casting Co. in an earlier game, eliminated Vernor’s in the opener last night with an 11-hit attack. Vernor’s scored single runs in each of the first two innings, one on a home run by Johnloz, ■ but the Trailer Sales knotted the score in the last of the third when Carnes singled, Jim Bowman doubled, Lee Hoop ingarner tripled. , ? Singles by Price and W. Colclasure, followed by doubles by Mentor and Carnes, produced four tallies in the fourth inning and sent the Trailer Sales on to their victory.
