Little Drops of Water Remember the poem we learned back in school days that went something like “Little drops of water, little grains of sand, make the mighty oceans and the gentle land.” Yet without each little drop, or little grain, we would have neither oceans nor land. We adults are the same way. We are all little grains of sand in the great land mass of American politics. Some people vote once, the election doesn’t go their way, and they feel that all elections are therefore futile. Others think that they vote won’t be too important. Who cares how they feel? But every vote is important. _lf Judge G. Remy Bierly, of Decatur, had gotten just one more vote per precinct in 1962, he would have been reelected to the Indiana appellate court! Numerous similiar instances could be recounted. Every American has the duty of taking an active part in politics after carefully studying the issues, and how he feels on each issue. Remember, each party is a composite of a number of issues. They must all be considered, because one thing that seems most important right now may suddenly be placed in the background by new, more important events. If you have not registered, or if you have moved since last voting, be sure to transfer your voters registration, or register, immediately. You have only about 30 days left. Go to the county clerk’s office, or call Dr. Harry H. Hebble, Democratic county chairman, if you want someone to come to your home to register you. If you will likely be out of town on election day, or if you will be sick and unable to get to the polls, you may apply for an absent voter’s ballot. Vote and the choice is yours — don’t vote and the choice is theirs — Register, or you have no choice! Editorial written by Dick Heller
