Adams county W. C. T. U. was held Friday at the First Mention- ' ite church in Berne. The county president, Mrs. D. C. Shady, presided over the meeting and gave the welcome address. Mrs. Ferd Mertz led the singing, with Miss Kathy Lehman at the piano. There were special numbers in music and song by the Berne girls, the Misses Susie Liechty, Donna Jean Bluhm, and Anita Schwartz. Devotions were given by the Rev. Gordon J. Neuenschwander, taken from Isaiah, 62. Reports from all county officers were given. The secretary, Mrs. Frank Bohnke, gave the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs. John Gage, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. The fallowing reports were also given: Armed services, Mrs. Robert Gage; child welfare, Mrs. Jack Mcßride; flower mission and relief, Mrs. Clovis Oberli; institutes, Mrs. Jesse Niblick; literature and publications, Mrs. Lloyd Stonebumer; visual education, Mrs. Lawrence Michel; loyal temperance legion, Mrs. James Nussbaum; publicity, Mrs. John Gage; and speech contest, Mrs. Shady. An election of officers was held and the following were elected: president, Mrs. D. C. Shady; vice president, Mrs. Loretta Blackwood; secretary, Mrs. Frank Bohnke; and treasurer, Mrs. John Gage. Other officers will be appointed by the president. The noon prayer was given by Mrs. Leona Long and then each ate the sack lunches, pie and coffee. The afternoon session began at 1 p.m. with an opening hymn, “Onward Christian Soldiers.” Devotions were given by Mrs. Armin C. Steiner of the West Missionary Church of Berne, using the 12th chapter of Acts. Two special numbers were presented by the Berne ladies, Mrs. Fred Sauffer, Mrs. Glen Grandlinard, Mrs. Earl Lehman, Mrs. Roger Sprunger, Mrs. Chester Beitler, and Mrs. Charles Wulliman. Mrs. Howard Baumgartner accompanied them on the piano. Guest speaker was the Rev. Jack Fitzgerald, a Methodist minister from Fort Wayne and a state parole officer for five years. He reminded all the members that the W.C.T.U. was founded 90 years ago. - Memorial services were conducted by Mrs. Shady for the departed members during the preyious year. The meeting was closed by joining hands and singing “Blest Be Die Tie That Binds," and a prayer by the Rev. Fitzgerald. Bows and fems marked the pews along the carpeted aisle and two beauty vases of yellow gladioli and pompoms decorated the altar of the First Missionary church in Fort Wayne where the Rev. Cornelius Vlot, assisted by Dr. Ray Hein, joined in marriage Miss Eileen Marian Clark and Duane Ray Steiner. The double ring ceremony was held September 5 at 2:30 p.m. Miss Clark is the eldest daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. D. B. Clark, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, and Steiner is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Steiner, Phoenix, Ariz. Organist was Ira Gerig, soloist was Miss Kathie Line. Selections included “O Happy Home,” *My Jesus As Thou Wilt,” “Abide, O Dearest Jesus,” Purcell: “Trumpet Voluntary,” “Holy Spirit, Hear Them” and “A Mighty Fortress.” The Rev. David Clark, father of the bride, escorted her down the aisle in a gown of silk organza over angel taffeta with along line bodice of chantilly lace appliqued. It was fashioned witha sabrina neckline studded with pearls. The skirt flowed into a long chapel train of matching appliqued lace. Her shoulder length veil was held in place by a pearlized orange blossom wreath. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis centered with a white orchid. round heckline and elbow length sleeves. It featured a cummerbund of a dark shade of blue. She worea light blue veil attached to a bandeau of leaves fashioned from the dress. She carried a cascade of white mums and yellow pompons. Miss Barbara Clark, Kingston, Jamaica, W. 1., Mrs. Sharon Hastings, Philadelphia, Pa., and Miss Aileen Wade, Kauai, Hawaii, were bridesmaids. They wore dresses of the same style as the maid of honor’s and they were darker blue with lighter blue culfimerbunds. Their veils were identical to the honor attendant and they carried cascades of yelwi mums with ivory backgrounds. Gary Sonnenberg, of Warr*, Mich., was best man, and ushers were Roy Meyer, Lima, 0., Edward Hastings, Jr.. Philadelphia, Pa., and David Dyck, Berne. The bride’s mother wore a sapphire blue acetate sheath with matching, hat and purse. The groom’s mother- worea turquoise sheath with a lace-trimmed bodice and matching accessories. Both mothers wore white orchid corsages. A reception was held at the church following the ceremony. Those serving were Miss Coleen Steiner, Miss Joan Weber, Miss Kathy Prochaska, Mrs. Herald Welty and Mrs. David N. Clark. The caterer was Miss Anna Sprunger. The new Mrs. Steiner wore a gold tweed suit with a slim skirt, sleeveless vest and a blouse with French cuffs, with black accessories on her wedding trip of unannounced destination. Miss Clark is a 1964 graduate of Fort Wayne Bible College with a bachelor of science in Christian education and missions. The groom is also a 1964 graduate of the Fort Wayne Bible College, with a Bachelor of arts in pastoral training. The couple will live in Mooresville after September 14. The groom will be served as assistant pastor at the Grace Missionary church and is attending Indiana University.

Miss Gloria Jean Nevil, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nevil, and Larry Joseph Baumer, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baumer, Geneva, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at the St. Mary’s church, Geneva, August 29 at 1 p.m. Rev. Leo Landoil officiated at the ceremony. The bride appeared in a white peau de soie floor length gown of her own creation, which featured an a-line skirt with soft gathers at the sides, a fitted bodice and a cifcular neckline. The jacket had three-quarter length sleeves. The jacket and dress was accented with handstitched lace appliques of sequins and pearls. A small tiara crown of pearls and seed crystal beads held the finger tip veil. She carried a white purple throated orchid with streamers of white velvet ribbons. Miss Jean Baumer, Geneva, sister of the bridegroom, served as honor attendant. She wore a mint green street length dress with a bell shaped skirt and fitted bodice that featured a circular neckline. The back of the Waistline was accented wth a cabbage rose. Her small crown of white pearls had a face veil of mint green. She carried a cascade of lavendar and purple mums, and purple grapes accented with purple velvet ribbons. James Baumer, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mrs, Nevil wore a royal blue

Births At the Adams county memorial hospital: Harold and Virginia Thatcher Vanhorn, route 3, are the parents of a 6 lb., 13 oz., baby boy born at 2:05 a.m., today. Locals Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ziner returned Tuesday from Nashville, Tenn., where they spent the weekend visiting with their son. Gene, and his family. The younger Ziner is now sales manager for Culligan Water Conditioning in Kentucky, Tennessee, and northern Georgia and Alabama, workig out of Nashville.. The trip took 9% hours driving. Three From Decatur In Nursing School Three Decatur young ladies and four others from this area are among the 67 freshmen registered for the Lutheran hospital school of nursing, Fort Wayne. Classes will start Monday following mixer parties and orientation for the new students the remainder of this week. The Decatur students are Jane Kaehr, Imogene Steffen and Gloria Thieme. Others from the immediate area are Lee Anne Metheny, Hoagland;. Janet Lehman and Ruth Von Gunten, Berne, and Janice Gerber, Craigville. crepe dress with red accessories to her daughter’s wedding. Serving at the reception were Mrs. Sally Thomas, Mrs. " Carolyn Baumer and the Misses Diana Fields, Joyce Mosser, Marsha Loper, Margie McGough, Ann Gillespie, Shelby Workinger, Joan Minnich and Cindy and Sandy Dubach. For her wedding trip to the northern states, the bride wore a selfrflade navy dress with a bais collar and a dickey with a bow. She wore a white orchid corsage. The bride Is a graduate of Geneva high school and is manager of Thelma’s clothing Store in Geneva. The groom is also a graduate of Geneva high high school, owns Thelma’s clothing store and is employed by B. F. Goodrich, Woodburn. The couple are at home at 425 N. Main St. Geneva.
