The incident is still under investigation by the sheriff's department. flee, Amendments to the Jaw in recent years have lowered the eligibility requirements. 2. Q—-I thought that only women could start their social security benefits at age 62. Is this correct ? A—No. Since the 1961 amendmentsTb the social security act, men as well as women can begin receiving benefits at age 62. However, the amount of your monthly benefit is permanently reduced if you take payments before age 65 —to take account of the longer period over which you will be collecting them. 3. Q —l was born April 1; 1901, and never worked under social security until last year, when my husband died and I went to Work. How many credits would I need to be eligible for benefits? A—A woman born in 1901 would need to work in a Job cover 'd bv social security for at least 12 quarters (three years). Prior to 1960, you would have needd 24 quarters, or twice as much as 'he present law requires 4 Q—Bv how much will fny monthly benefit be reduced if I start receiving social secut'ty checks before age 65'.’ A—Social security retirement benefits are reduced by 20. ner cent If begun at age 62, bv 13’(i per cent if begun at age 63. or only per cent if begun at age 64 5. Q—Suppose I do aonlv for benefits at age 65, and have my benefit amount set at a certain level, but keep on earning high wages. When I finally retire completely, will I have to settle for the amount that was set up at age 65? A—No. Your benefit amount may be refigured to include earnings after age 65. and if those earnings are high enough, it may be Increased. 6 Q—l am past 72 years of age, and am still earning over $4600 a year. I have not vet received social security benefit checks. Why nos A—Probably because you have never filed an application for benefits. Benefits may be pn’d for each month, starting with the month you attain age 72. regardless of your earnings. However, you can get this only if you file a claim with your social security office.

The fitted bodice of organza over taffeta was fashioned with a scoop neckline and long sleeves that came" to~polnts over her hands. The bodice was highlighted by garlands of alencon lace appliques sprinkled with tiny seed pearls. Her very full waist length veil of imported silk illusion was caught by a forward clip of organza flowers. She carried a cascade arrangement of white orchids and white sweetheart roses. Mrs. John Habegger, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a floor length gown of blush pink satin brocade. The bodice was fashioned with a scooped neckline and was sleeveless. The skirt fell in soft pleats with two very deep pleats on either side in front. Pink satin slippers, long four-button gloves and a silver cross, a gift of the bride, completed her attire. When I am dining with friends, is it proper for me to continue to eat while someone else is direc ing conversation at me? A. Yes. But be sure, of course, that you are giving evidence of your attention. Q. My daughter is expecting her first baby. Would it be all right for me to give a stork shower for her? A. In a home where there is no service, and where the serving dishes are put on the table, how are the dishes started around the table? A. Properly, the host starts by offering a dish to the wqman on his right, and the hostess from her end of the table starts another dish on its way around the table to her right. Q. Since becoming engaged recently, I have received a number of gifts of money. Am I supposed to divide this with my fiance, or does it rightfully belong to me to spend as I wish? A. Rightfully, you should put this money into a special account to be spent later by both of you for something for your home. Q. When women, already seated at a luncheon table, are introduced to one another, do they shake hands seated, when it is convenient to do so? A. No; they bow. It is much too awkward to reach across a table to shake hands.
