HOBBY AND ANTIQUE SHOW TO BE HELD The 39'ers met at the Decatur Youth and Community center for their regular carry-in dinner and party Tuesday evening. Thirtyone members and one guest were present The hobby and antique show sponsored by the 39'ers will be held at the center Sunday, September 13, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Anyone having antiques or a hobby they would like to display are asked to bring it to the center Saturday evening at 7:30 or Sunday before 12 noon. There is ho charge for display or for admission to the show. Light refreshments will be served to all. Some displays will be for sale by the owner. Hie public is invited to see the work of local artists. Those wishing further information concerning the how may contact Mrs. Bert Haley, chairman of the project. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Sauer furnished prizes for the games that were played at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Baker were reported improving and Mrs. Ruth Teeple was reported ill. McKEAN-WEBER VOWS READ RECENTLY Miss Evelyn Marie McKean, formerly of route 4, and Gerald Wayhe Weber were united in marriage recently at the First Christian Union church. Fort Wayne, with the Rev. Howard Dunlap officiating the double ring ceremony. Miss McKean is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin McKean of Oak Grove trailer court, Box 42, 2651 Ridge Road, Highland, and Weber is the eldest son of Wayne Weber, route 5, Box 128, Wauseon, O. Two bouquets of pom pons and gladioli decorated the church where the 7 p.m. ceremony took place, August ®. Organist, Ira Gerig, professor of music at Fort Wayne Bible College, and vocalist Jackie Weber, sister of the groom, presented selections including the “Lord’s Prayer,” “Love Divine All Loves Excelling,” “Seal Us Oh Holy Spirit” and “A Mighty Fortress.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of nylon with a lace top and long sleeves, 'fhe bodice featured tiny pearls and sequins on the front. Hie skirt was accented with side and back pleats. She carried a bouquet of white roses and wore a white finger tipped veil with a-crown of pearls and aurora stones. , Her maid of honor, Miss Kathie Tehan, wore a frosty blue nylon organza dress with a pleated skirt and fitted bodice. The sleeves and neckline were fi'ted. Frosty blue organza and veiling was worn as her headdress and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Miss Joan Sue Weber, sister of the Richter, sister of the bride, were groom, and Mrs. Barbara Joan bridesmaids. They were dressed identical to the maid of honor and also carried pink carnations. Harold Bloomer served as best man and Roy Meyers and Gene McKean, brother of the bride, were ushers. The bride’s mother chose a blue multicolored jersey dress with

FINAL DETAILS ANNOUNCED FOR SOCIAL The War her legaue of St. Paul’s Lutheran church of Preble has announced the last minute details for their ice cream social to be held Sunday evening. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. The main feature on the menu will be homemade ice cream along with homemade pies, sandwiches, etc. Connie Reinking is chairman of the food committee, and helping her will be Sitsan Bittner, Richard Bleeke and Dennis Reinking. Dale Bieberich and his committee, Gary Jeffrey and Maxine Bulmahn, have planned an interes ing program which will begin at 8 p.m. The public is invited. HOLD PRE-SEASON MEETING TUESDAY The newly formed Parent Teacher League of the St. Paul Lutheran church had a pre-season meeting Tuesday evening. The meeting was opened with a hymn and a prayer by Rev. Kuck. The constitution was presented to the group by Mr. Bachmann, the school principal. It was discussed and approved and is subject to congregational approval in the October voters assembly. The constitution committee included Hugo Bulmahn, Justin Bleeke, and Mr. Bachmann. It was voted to continue the school lunch treat on a one-day basis. The meeting was closed by sayig the “Lord’s Prayer” in unison. PATHFINDERS HOLD BOWLING PARTY A bowling party was held by the Church of God’s Pathfinders class August 30 at Emick’s Bowl in Berne. A carry-in supper was held at the church fellowship hall after the bowling. Those attending were the Rev. and Mrs. Huston Bever, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kershner, Mr. and Mrs. John Speakman and Julie, Mr. and Mrs. Lynford Weiland, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Zimmerman, Miss Phyllis Singleton, Miss Bernice Yager, Ralph Peterson and Mrs. Don Bailey, white accessories and a red carnation corsage for her daughter’s wedding. A light blue sheath with navy accessories was worn by the groom’s mother. She also wore a red carnation corsage. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the basement of the church for 140 guests. The Misses Phyllis Singleton, Bernice Yager and Karen Gearig served the pale pink punch and white cake decorated with pink roses. Blue candles were an each side of the cake. The bride is a graduate of Adams Central and attended Fort Wayne Bible college and is working for Rychener Seed company of Pettisville, O. The groom graduated from Pettisville high school in Ohio and is a farmer. : For her wedding trip the bride wore a blue eyelet suit with white accessories. WOMEN’S GUILD HOLDS SEPTEMBER MEETING The Women’s Guild of the Salem United Church of Christ met Tuesday evening for their September meeting. Mrs. Gerhard Witte opened the meeting with a piano prelude entitled “For God So Loved the World," followed by the group singing “Praise Him! Praise Him.” Responsive reading was taken from the book of John led by Mrs. Robert Hildebrand. Prayer was given by Mrs. Harry Beavers. The special number was a duet presented by Lois Beavers on her clarinet and Beverly Kruetzman on her saxophone, accompanied by Mrs. Arno Girod. The topic .for the evening was introduced by Mrs. Harry Beavers, entitled, “Establishing our identity.” With the group using their Bibles, a quiz was led by Mrs. Dale Fruechte, who divided the group into five parts to see who could answer the most questions from the Bible. Mrs. Walter Egley introduced some of the topics for the coming year and installation of officers was led by the Rev. Settlage. Prayer was then given by the newly elected president, Mrs. Robert Hildebrand, who then presided over the business meeting. Locals Judge and Mrs. G. Remy Blerly are attending the funeral of Senator Hartke’s sister today at Stendal. Adams county auditor Ed Jaberg is currently attending a twoday state-sponsored meeting of county auditors at Turkey Run, Mr. and Mrs. Bifl Spice, and children Tim, Beth Ann and Mariann, of route 6, have rettrined from a week’s visit in Cookeville, Tenn., with Spice's parents. Hospital Dismissed Mrs. Noah Wengerd and baby girl, Berne; Mrs. Marion Young, Mrs. Manley Irwin, Mrs. Pearl Shaw, Decatur. Youth Interviewed On Radio Program A half-hour radio program, over station WOWO’s program "PM” from 8:30 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, included an interview of a Berne youth who had been sentenced by the Adams county juvenile court earlier for sniffing glue and gas, and who has reformed. The youth reported that he has been attending religious meetings and programs after his contact with them in Fort Wayne, and that they have helped him “kick” the sniffing habit. He had been brought to the attention of the local court some time ago, and had been hospitalized. Sniffing actually damages the brain, and destroys tissues that cannot be replaced, and in many respects is more dangerous than other more common addictions. Two Men Arrested By Decatur Police A Decatur man and a Tennessee resident were arrested by the city police during the past 24 hours. Donald D. Linder, 20, of this city, was charged with disorderly conduct at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, at the intersection of Fourth and Jefferson street. Linder appeared in city court this morning and entered a plea cf not guilty to the charge, and Judge John B. Stults set Monday, Sept. 14; as the date for trial. Bond has been set at S2OO. Samuel Newton Mcßrown, 43-year-old resident of Cookerville, Tenn., was jailed by city police officers at 9 o’clock this mprning. Newton was charged with public intoxication and is in custodv and at the. county jail awaiting city court trial. Grass Fires Result In Call To Firemen Decatur firemen extinguished two grass fires within less than two hours Wednesday afternoon, with no damage other than the grass resulting. The department was summoned at 1:22 p.m. to the south side of Bellmont Park, along the Piqua Road, when grass on the property of Donald Roeder as burning. Firemen were at the scene for nearly in hour in preventing the blaze from spreading. At 2:55 p.m. the firemen were called again, this time to a grass fire along U. S. 224, about two miles east of the city. This fire was under control in 15 to 20 minutes. Mark Keller Receives Appreciative Letter Mark Keller, 13, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Harold Keller, has received a letter of appreciation from Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, widow of the late president, for his donation in June of a day’s earnings mowing lawns in Decatur to the John F. Kennedy memorial library fund.

Introduces Bill To Require Residency WASHINGTON (UPD — RepPaul A. Fino, R-N. Y„ introduced legislation Wednesday aimed at preventing “the candidacy of self-serving opportunists like Robert Kennedy of Massachusetts and Pierre Salinger of Virginia." Fino’s bill would require that candidates for Congress be resident of the states from which they are seeking office for at least one year. Similar legislation has been introduced by Sen. Strom Thurmond, D-S. C. Stale Traffic Toll Increased To 853 By United Press International An Alexandria man died in an Anderson hospital today of iniuries suffered Wednesday in a two-car crash, increased Indiana’s 1964 traffic toll to at least 853, one more than this time last year. Glen Cook, 58, died in St. John’s Hospital at Anderson. The accident at a Delco Remy plant exit and an Indiana 109 bypass intersection in Anderson injured three other persons. Two more teen-agers were killed in Indiana traffic late Wednesday. Thomas Elliott, 16, Marion, was injured fatally when his motorcycle hit a car at the intersection of Indiana 18 and a Grant County road east of Marion. He died en route to a hospital. Leslie Rood, 17, Sharpsville, was killed when his car rolled out of control at a dip in Indiana 19 about three miles north of Tipton. Rood was thrown out of the vehicle.

jgH I BEGINS DUTIES SATURDAY — Floyd < Fuzzy) Ehlerding, 32-year-old Adams county native, will begin his duties as Adams county’s third state trooper Saturday. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Elherding of near Preble was transferred fom Steuben county to Adams earlier this week. Ehlerding, who was appointed to the department December 1, 1953, Is completing his 11th year with the Indiana state police. He and his wife, Arlema, and their two children, Gregory K., age 4, and Timothy 8., age 2, will be moving to this county soon.
