No Airmail Stamps For Ordinary Mail "Most everybody knows that postage stamps are usable forever," says postmaster John Boch, "but not everyone knows that that airmail stamns cannot be used on ordinary mail." Some suppose that any stamp can be used for any purpose. But this isn’t true, Boch said. An air mail stamp marks a piece of mail for special handling. Air mail and regular mail are figured at different rates. An air mail stamp can only be used on mail designed for Air Mail, and if it doesn’t include enough postage for air mail, the receiver must pay the difference. This leads to antagonisms and embarrassments to the sender, and can be bested avoided by using air mail stamps for air mail letters only. There are several other rules to remember: 1. Airmail postage may be used on airmail only. 2. Airmail stamps may be used to pay fees’ for special services, such as insurance, special delivery, special handling- etc., on airmail articles only. 3. Any stamp partly covered by an overlapping stamp may not be counted as postage 4. Postal employes, other than rural carriers, are not required to affix stamps to mail matter. 5. Postage stamps with deficient mucilage cannot be struck on with Scotch tape. Further information about postage stamps and their proper use can be quickly obtained by calling 3-3205, Boch added.
