OLIVE REBEKAH LODGE MEET The Olive Rebekah lodge met Tuesday evening for a picnic and a regular meeting at Red Men hall. There were seventeen present for the picnic supper and silent auction. Members are asked to keep open September 19 for the district meeting to be held in Bluffton. The Happy Homemakers home demonstration club will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Gale Cook. Mrs. Floyd Mitchell will give a demonstration on flower arranging. Each member is reminded to bring her own flowers and a container for making an arrangement. AUGUST MEETING AT DUTCH MILL The Friendship Village home demonstration club held its August meeting Thursday at the Dutch Mill in Bluffton, with Mrs. Charles Burkhart, Mrs. William Neadstine and Mrs. Clara Dolch as hostesses. The president, Mrs. Charles Shoaf, opened the meeting by having the group repeat the creed. A delicious dinner was enjoyed by the 21 members and two guests, Mrs. Clifford Landis and Mrs. Russell Lenhart, present. Mrs. William Neadstine gave devotions from Ephesians 5. Locals Mr. and Mrs. Ewell McCreary and family have returned home from a week’s vacation in which they visited with rela’ives and friends in the St. Louis area. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hill, 1216 Elm street, received word of the serious chest injury, sustained in a car crash, of Mrs. Hill’s brother, Jewell 0. Wright, Kansas City, Kansas. Wright and his family have visited in the Decatur area a number of times. The accident occurred on the Turkey Creek expressway as Wright was going to work. Facial Laceratipn Sustained In Fall A Decatur boy was taken to the Adams county memoral hospital Thursday evening with a sever facial laceration suffered in a mishap at home. The youth, Tom Ashbrook, three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ashbrook, of 1044% N. Second St., was reported to have fallen from the family auto, while it was parked, onto the pavement, and recevied the laceration from the pop bottle he had been holding. No Objections To North Adams Budget The special appropriation, and the regular school budget for North Adams communtiy schools, passed Thursday night as advertised, Gail M. Grabill, superintendent of schools, announced this morning. No one appeared to remonstrate against the budget for the coming year, nor against the special appropriation, he stated. Marching Practice By DHS Band Monday TRie Decatur high school band will hold its first marching practice Monday at 8 a.m. at the Reppert auction school, Richard M. Collins, band director, anounced this morning. • The band, with about 65 members expected to turn out. Will have just Monday and Tuesday mornings to practice for the first football game, the jamboree which will include Decatur, Bluffton, Berne, and Hartford City teams, playing Tuesday evening at Worthman field. The 8 a.m. practices will continue Monday through Friday until school starts, Collins added, 'rhe band will play at all home football games, and while it probably won’t be able to do much more than mar ph on the field and play the Star Spangled Banner for the jamboree, it should have a few specials worked out by the first regular home game. This will be the fourth year for the band under Collins, and it has grown yearly to its present 65 from a nucleous of 18 the first year. Collins worked with ithe band members individually l on their instruments during June and July, with the members having only the month of August for vacations. The marching band, with its enthusiasm and drama, has added greatly to the growing sucess of home football games, and the color of the local high school football season, Collins out. The First Church of the Brethren, Akron, 0., was the scene of the marriage of Miss Karen Rodehaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Rodehaver of Akron, and Max Larry Egley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Egley, route 2. The double ring candle light ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Harold Baer at an altar, adorned with Palms and greenery. Mrs. Don Disler and Fred Randall, organist and vocalist, respectively, provided traditional wedding selections. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of luster peau, featuring a rounded neckline and elbow length sleeves. Two panels, topped by a lace rose, fell from the back center of the waistine to form a chapel length train. Her veil of illusion was caught to a crown of a peau lace rose and seed pearls. She wore a single strand of pearls, a gift from the groom. She carried a beautiful arrangement of white large niums and roses. Miss Sandy Rodehaver, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of light yellow peau featuring a softly scooped neck line and elbow length sleeves. She carried an arrangement of yellow mums and roses. Larry Hoffman and Dave Wiant, college friends, served as ushers. Mrs. Rodehaver was attired in a light green crepe sheath dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Egley chose a beige brocade sheath dress with white accessories. The mothers wore orchid corsages. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church for approzimately 200 guests. The bride is a graduate of Manchester College and will be teaching math and physical education at Portage high school, Fort Wayne. Egley is also a graduate of Manchester College and will be coaching and Reaching math at Harrison Hill, Fort Wayne. $5 To Kennedy Fund From Kool-Aid Stand Five dollars more goes to the Kennedy library fund, compliments of Pam and Brad Shelton, of 316 Line St, and their kool-aid stand. The children of Mr. and Mrs. George Ei Shelton decided to lake part in the library fund for the late president, and set up their kool-aid stand. Soo A , there was plenty of assistance. Boy Scout Troop 61 Plans Member Drive Boy Scout troop 61, sponsored by the Decatur Rotary club, is starting a new membership drive, and any boys interested may contact Ronald Secaur, Jack Knbdsen, or any member of the troop. This troop, the oldest in the coiinty, has participated in many scouting activities, such as camporrts, troop and'patrol camping, bicycle hikes, swimming parties, Scout-O-flama. The troop also attend Big Island this year. Those at camp were Scoutmaster Ronald Secaur, Richard Howard, Gary Teeple, Patch, Joh« Ginter, Mike Crider, Randy Irwin, Dennis Johnson, Kenny Smitley and John Souder. Participants in the mile swim were Ron Secaur, Gary Teeple, John Ginter, Mike Crider and Richard Howard. Os 20 participating, five were from troop 61.
