HOLD NIGHT OUT MEETING > The Rachel circle of the Decacatur EUB church met Tuesday evening at the Dutch Mill in Bluffton for their annual night out meeting, as er which, the group returned to Mm. John Spahr’s home for the lesson, given by Mrs. Guy “Witnessing, How To” was the topic of the lesson. Mrs. Vestal Kling and Mrs. Joseph Koons assisted Mrs. Koons in a panel discussion. this quarter is handicraft items for Rev. and Mrs. Hostetler, who are located in Ecuador, to be used in the Christian education of children. The business meeting adjourned with the group repeating the "Lord's Prayer.” A birthday cake, honoring Mrs. Spahr, was served during the social hour to the twelve members present. The next meeting will be Sept. .10 at the home of Mrs. Mel Tinkham. The leader will be Mrs. Edith Kling. honored with ANNIVERSARY PARTY v Mr. and Mrs. Orville Royer were honored with a surprise 25th anniversary party at the home of their eldest daughter, Mrs. Dan Ross. The couple were surprised by their children, Mrs. James Cook, Max Royer and Mrs. Ross. The traditional silver wedding anniversary theme was carried out throughout the home. Many lovely gifts were received by the honored couple. HOLD POT LUCK PICNIC Twenty-two members, two guests and ten children were present at the home of Mrs. Lee Fleming Tuesday the Root Township heme demonstration club picnic. A short business meeting was conducted my the president, Mrs. Ralph Rice. A contest was won by Mrs. Weiher, Swimming, bathing and games were enjoyed during the afternoon. Thenext meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Fannie Kunkel and everyone was reminded to bring a flower arrangement. The Catholic Ladies of Columia will have a pot luck supper, followed by a business meeting, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The meat and rolls will be furnished. William Kaatz served as best man. They are residing at 261 S. Rosewood and will establish residence at route 5. Athens, 0., when they re-enter Ohio University this fall. The bride, entering her junior year, is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. The groom, entering his senior year, is employed at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton for the summer months. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents August 14, with the Misses Sara Heiser and Margaret Jenkins, sisters of the bride and groom, respectively, serving the guests. , The new Mrs. Jenkins is the granddaughter of Mrs. M. A. Frisinger, of this city. Locals Mr. and Mrs. Richard Maddox and daughter Nancy and son Rich, returned to Whittier, Calif., after spending a week with Mrs. H. A. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Johnson and daughter Sandra of Austin, Minn., are visiting with Mrs. E. W. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lopshire _of Benson, Ariz., are visiting with relatives in the Decatur' - FOf Wayne area for several weeks. Mrs. Lopshire is the daughter' of Mrs. Clyde Beery. Mrs. Glen Egley, route 2, Ohio City, 0., underwent surgery August 26. She! is tri the- Van Wert County hospital, Van Wert, O. Mrs. Ralph McMillen, Pompono Beach, Fla., and Mrs* James Barrett and daughter Sandra, Hendersonville, N. C., have returned home. They were in Decatur for the Schnepf-Caston wedding and reception Saturday evening. Miss Effie Ambler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ambler Jr. of Washington, D.C., will spend the 1964-65 academic year in the Soviet Union in the seventh year of exchange graduate students. Charge Speeding To ; Bluffton Motorist Harold R. Crews, 23-year-old resident of Bluffton, was arrestqfi by the city police at 8:40 a.m. today. Crews was charged with traveling 50 miles an hour in a 30 zone on Mercer Ave., and has been cited to appear in justice of the peace court on Sept. 11. Miss Joyce Arllene Uhrick was wed recently to Noel Dean Anderson in a double ring ceremony by the Rev. Isaacs, Jr., of Bluffton. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Uhrick, 910 South Thirteenth street, nad Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson, 923 Washington street, Bluffton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a two piece ensemble of lace over potinhed co'ton, featuring long sleeves. She wore an elbow length veil and carried a white Bible topped with a red rose corsagf*. Mis Judy Uhrick the honor attendant. She chose a blue lace street length dress with over jacket. She wore a corsage of one red rose surrounded by small carnations. Harry Penrod served as best man and Kenny and Larry Uhrick, brothers of the bride, were ushers. The couple are making their home at the corner of Third and /efferson streets. MRS. LISTER IS HOSTESS Mrs. Merlin Lister was hostess for the Decatur Bellmon home demonstration club Tuesday evening. Mrs. Ronald Pierce opened the meeting with the club creed and the members sang “Cornin’ Thro’ the Rye,” accompanied by the organist. A citizenship lesson on Indiana was given by Mrs. Thomas Herrell about the Indians of this territory, the early settlers and the former capitals of Indiana. The September 29 meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ronald Colclasure.
RUTH-NAOMI CIRCLE MEET The Ruth and Naomi circle of the Zion United Church of Christ met in the church parlor for its regular meeting. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Clara Meyers, giving "My Thought. Thanks For Another Day.’’ Mrs. Viola Kirchhofer was the leader for the afternoon. ‘‘God Is Love” was read responsively by the group. The song, "Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy,’J was sung by the group and followed by the lesson topic, "Christ’s Mission and Ours.” Following the group song, "Rescue the Perishing,” Mrs. Meytr conducted the business meeting. There were eleven members present. It was reported that 22 sick calls and 27 social calls were made. The meeting was closed by joining hands to complete a circle and repeating the Mizpah benefiction. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Floyd Shoaf. Mrs Edward Borne and Mrs. Carl Adler. MEET AT PLEASANT MILLS SCHOOL The Jolly Housewife home demonstration club met Tuesday evening at the Pleasant Mills school. The group sang “The More We Get Together” at the reouest of Mrs. Leland Ray, president, to open the meeting. Mrs. Nellie Jackson gave the devotions. Mrs. Tom Sheehan led those assembled in singing th° song of the month, “Cornin’ Thru’ the Rye,” and gave its history. The < ladies were informed of a special interest lesson, "Salt Restricted Diets,” to be held at the I & M building September 15. Envelopes for the foodless bake sale were distributed. The elec tion of officers will take place at the September meeting. Mrs. Robert Krueckeberg showed a film on the seven danger signals of cancer.
