New Makeup For Daring Necklines By GAY PAULEY DPI Women’s Editor NEW YORK (UPI)-It was bound to happen—makeup for the area exposed by the season’s daring necklines for evening. Also new are makeup for the ears, bi color and tri-color treatments for the eyes, double applications of foundations for the skin, and lipsticks that come in stripes. Over-all: a trend to the fragile, softer tones with the eyes still ‘‘in’’ as the feature to accent, say most cosmetics makers.

A cheek of major firms produced one (Charles of the Ritz) which advised women on how to apply cosmetics to the forefront exposed by plunging necklines. It begins with a half-hour soak in a softening cream on throat and cleavage, works its way through skin bracer, moisturizer, application then of the same foundation as used on the face blended well so it won't come off on what little dress front there is, a light dusting of rouge over all. Then, a beauty spot, strategically placed. The company making a special ear cosmqtic (Maradel) described it as a pearlescent cream in pale pink. Apply on lobes and brush back for a wing-like effect.

Another firm (Alexandra De Markdff) advocated application of regular rouge to both ear lobes and chin. It came up with the tri-color treatment tor the eyes. Use its new whitened shades of eye shadow—sky blue for instance—on the lid. In the crease of the lid blend in a dark neutral shadow —fawn or topaz. Finish off with a light
