ffi» ?u J, Jo Wed Mr. and Mrs. Evan Yake of route 2, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carolyn Joan, to Pvt. William Daily Shindler, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Shindler, route 1, Geneva. Miss Yake is a graduate of Adams Central high school and is employed by Central Soya of Decatur. Her fiance is a graduate of Geneva high school and is now in Toul, France, serving in the U.S. Army with the 249th Engineer Battalion. No date has been set for the wedding.

Births At the Adams county memorial hospital: Anthony and Roberta Aschliman Lengerich, of route 3, are the parents of a 7 lb., 10 oz., baby boy born at 9:36 a.m. Saturday. Paul and Hope Myers Neal, of Geneva, became the- parents of a 7 lb., 5 oz., baby boy at 6:32 a.m. Sunday. A 7 lb., 10% oz., baby girl was born to Keneth and Phillis Becker Bieberich, of 321 W. Sunday afternoon at the First Methodist church, Miss Janalee Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Smith, 916 West Monroe street, Decatur, and Frederick Bradford Holmes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Avenue, Westwood, Mass., were wed Altar vases and wedding vases of whjte gladioli and yellow majestic daisies and candelabra bedecked the altar for the double ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Virgil W. Sexton, formerly of Decatur. Organist Mrs. Edgar Gerber played sections including “Liebestraum,” - ‘ Where Ere You Walk” and “Traumerei,” and accompanied Miss Helen Haubold as she sang the “Wedding Prayer” and “Oh’ Perfect Love.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of peau de taffeta featuring a chapel length train with alencon lace trim. Her waist length veil of white imported illusion was caught to a forward cap of rayon peau petals outlined with seed pearls. She carried a crescent cascade centered* with a white orchid and accented with trailing ivy and stephanotis streamers. - ‘, Mis Suzanne Smith, Sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Linda Kissell, Springfield, 0., and Mrs. Donald Bernstein, Chicago, 111., were bridesmaids. They wore street length sheath dresses with floor length overskirts. The fitted bodices of pale yellow organza over taffeta were styled with scoop neckline and short sleeves. They wore matching pale yellow open crown pill boxes with poof veils. They- carried baskets of white marguerite daisies and fern foliage. Tracy; Warrensville, 0., and Lynn Smith, brother of the bride were ushers. For her daughter’s wedding, the bride’s mother chose a beige lace sheath dress with matching pill box hat, cocoa accessories; and a white orchid corsage. The groom's mother wore a pink floral jacket dress, a hot-pink veil, and a white orchid corsage. A reception for approximately 150 guests was held at the Youth and Community Center. Serving at the wedding were Miss Jane Headley, Lebanon; Mrs. Gayle Ainsworth, Decatur; and Mrs. Warren F. Parsons, Bloomington. Mrs. William Gass played the organ at the reception. Mrs. Idabelle Alton served as hostess at the reception and Miss Claudia Caston registered guests and the gifts’at the reception. For a wedding s trip. to California and the northwestern states, the new Mrs. Holmes wore a bladk and white sheath with patent accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Decatur high school and DePauw University, Greencastle, and a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She has been teaching third grade in Darien, Cbnn., for the past two years and doing graduate work at the University, of Bridgeport? Bridgeport, Conn. The groom is a graduate of Westwood high school and Colgate University, Hamilton, N. Y. He is a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity and teaches mathematics in the Darien school system. He also assists in coaching junior high football and baseball. , Their new home wil be in San Jose, Calif-, wrere Holmes will be studying at San Jose University, where he received a national science foundation grant in mathematics. Mrs. Holmes will be teaching.
