DELTA THETA TAU SORORITY MEETS The Delta Theta Tau sorority met at the home of Mrs. Forrest Dryer for their cteoing meeting of the season. The members and their guests came dressed as "hobos.” The dinner was served buffet style from cleverly decorated tables. Mrs. John McCdnaha welcomed the guests. Following dinner, games were played and prizes were awarded to the winners. At dark the group met in the large family room and the game Password was enjoyed. Prizes cleverly wrapped and tied to a stick were awarded to the winners and suckers were given to the losers. 'rhe committee who planned the party consisted of Mrs. Leo Teeple, Mrs. Don Jdiddendorf and Mrs. Robert Shrafuka. MRS. Smith was in charge of the meeting. Mr«. Forrest Walters gave an explanation of the song of the month, “Annie Laurie." and led the group in singing it. Mrs. Ralph Sauer had charge of the devotions, using “Meeting Life a Day at a Time” as her theme and reading from Matthew 6:34. Mrs. Florence Smitley gave the lesson on “Food Facts vs Food Fallacies.” the health and safety lesson was given by Mrs. Hugh Nidllnger. The delegates, Mrs. Marie Barkley and Mrs. Hugh Nidlinger, gave some very challenging highlights from the convention held at Purdue University. The lesson on citizenship was given by Mrs. Barkley and some profitable thoughts concerning poisoning were given by Mrs. Nidlinger. The secretary's report was read by Miss Marie Marbach and approved by the group. Thank you cards were received from the American Cancer society and the family of Mrs. Thurman Drew. A tribute was given in honor of the late Mrs. Mary Drew. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by the hostess. , Mrs. Emery Booth was the recipient of a gift. Get well cards were sent to Mrs. Florence Bauman, Mrs. Anna Railing, and Mrs. Denver Gray. The next meeting will be July 22 at the home of Mrs. Gerald Springer. MRS. WILLIAM JOURNAY IS HOSTESS The Leah circle of the Decatur EUB church met at the home of Mrs. Wiliam Journay Thursday. Mrs. Flossie Hower, program chairman, gave a very interesting lesson on "What Do They Want.” She used scripture sentences from Isaiah, Matthew, and John. Mrs. Earl Fuhrman, Mrs. Richard Maloney and Mrs. Kenneth Gaunt read articles from the World Evangel. Mrs. Joßpnay reported on Ernest Gordon’s book, “Through the Valley of the Kwai.” Mrs. Fuhrman conducted the business meeting and gave a report of the WSWS conference at Oakwood. Delicious refreshments were served to five members and one guest. For next month’s meeting, July 16, Mrs. Keneth Gaunt is hostess and Mrs. Richard Maloney is the program chairman. MRS. MARTZ HOSTS MONROE WCTU ; the Monroe WCTU met at the home of Mrs. Ferdinand Martz for a pot luck dinner. Following dinner the group went to the Adams * county home and took small bouquets of flowers for each resident. Flowers were also delivered to the shut-ins in Monroe. The following programs was given at the county home: The group sang “God Will Take Care • of You.” MiM Qarol Wonch, a missionary on the. Mexican border, gave a very interesting talk. Der votions were given by Mrs. Martz. Miss Sonja Poorman and Mrs. Lynn Poorman gave vocal solos, , accompanied by Mrs. Homer Winteregg at the piano. A poem entitled “My Welcoihe Guest” was read by Mrs. Robert Gage. A special harp number was given by Mrs. Lawrenpe Michaels entitled “God Leads His Dear Children Along.” At the Martz home the group sang “Tell Me the Story of Jesus,” ’ and the meeting was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. John Gage. $1 Mrs. Ruth Keller Mrs. Ruth Keller Reelected By CLC Mrs. Ruth Keller, of Decatur, was reelected supreme vice president of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia at the 26th triennial session, held at the Netherlands Hilton hotel in Cincinnati, 0., early this week. The convention opened with the celebration of a pontifical high mass for the living members of C.L.C., by His Excellency, Richard A. Ackerman, STD, bishop of Covington, Ky. Council 110, of Covington, was hostess for the convention. The supreme president, Mrs. Frances Ger ding, and Mrs. Keller were presented the keys to the city of Covington by the mayor at the opening evening reception. The C. L. C„ a fraternal order with insurance, now has councils in four states and approximately 14,000 members. Mrs. Andrew Miller, Miss Edith Ervin, Mrs. William Lose and Miss Margaret Siting were delegates from the Decatur council. Mrs. Severin Schurger served as parliamentarian, and Miss Ervin served on the credentials committee. FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE MEETS THURSDAY The Friendship circle of the Church of God met Thursday evening in the - fellowship hall. The meeting was opened with Mrs. Earl Geyer reading the poem, “A Woman’s Sphere.” Mrs. Huston Bever, Jr., led in prayer Mrs. Willard Landis led the group in singing “Whole Heated Service.” The scripture was read from John 6:30. The lesson, “ Road Sign Ahead','*’ was presented by Mrs. Ken Martin, Mrs. Gene Mitchel, Mrs. DeWayne Steiner, Mrs. Don Peterson, Miss Bernice Yager, and Mrs. William Kerschnfer, Mrs. William Landis ..closed the meeting with prayer. Four Seasons restaurant, 7 p.m. Freed Under Bond On Assault Charge Alfredo E. Ojeda, 26, ‘of 946 N. 12th St., was released front the Adams county jail Thursday after posting <IOO bond. Ojeda Was arrested by the city police Thursday evening on a warrant charging him with assault and battery. He was visiting his wife at the Adams county hospital at the time. His wife had earlier signed an affidavit charging him with assault and battery. The case actually began at 1:11 a.m. Wednesday .when Ojeda notified the’ city police that his wife had been missing since 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He said she had gone for a ride for a ride with a friend but had not yet returned. She returned home a short time later, however, and the case was apparently closed. At 4:50 a.m. the same day though, his wife, Lupe, 22, telephoned the police and alleged she had been beaten by her husband and said she wanted to file an affidavit against him. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but Ojeda had left the city and couldn’t be located by the police. Around 2:40 p.m. Thursday, a long distance .operator notified the police that a Decatur woman had fainted while talking to her husband, who was in Fort Wayne. The woman was Mrs. Ojeda and she was taken by ambulance to the Adams county hospital. X-rays were taken of a head injury, but were negative. When her husband came to visit her last evening, he was picked up on the warrant charging him with assault and battery. The charges are slated to be heard in city court at 9 o’clock Monday morning.

At an . altar adorned with vases of yellow and white roses, Miss Rita Kay Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bowen, Monroeville, and Bill Ray Tinnel, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Tinnel, Monroeville, were united in marriage by the Rev. Robert Klingel. The marriage took place at the East Liberty EUB church. Jim Brown, cousin of the bride, nlayed several traditional wedding concluding . with the “Lord’s Prayer.” • Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a floor length gown of lace and angel mist taffeta, featuring an empire bodice with long sleeves. The tiny taffeta midriff was adorned with a bow. Hand clipped sprays of lace appliqife tapered from the waistline. A diamond shaped crystal crown held her fingertip veil in place. She carried a bouquet of white roses centered with a large orchid. Miss Esther Carpenter served as maid of honor. The bodice df'her mint green chiffon gown was accented with lace appliques and long sleeves. She wore a pearl crown which was attached to a shoulder length veil. She carried yellow roses. Terry Voirol served as best man, and the ushers were Ross Bowen, brothel 1 of the bride, and Harold Yoquelet, brother-in-law of the groom. The bride's mother wore a blue floral dress and a pink rose corsage. i Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the church. Those serving at the, reception were the Misses A tine Trentadue, Jane Shifferly, Marietta Meacham, and Joy Klinker.

For_a honeymoon trip, the couple were going to tour Tennessee, and other southern states. The bride is a graduate of Monroeville high school and is employed at Luginbill in New Haven. Following their wedding trip, the couple will be at home at 115 Willow Run Drive, Monroeville. RUTH-NAOMI CIRCLE HOLD MEETING ' ■ The Ruth and Naomi Circle of the Zion United Church of Christ met in the church parlor for its annual birthday dinner. The thought, “A 'Look Upon the Sunrise," was given by Mrs. Clara Myers. The prayer by Rev. W. C. Feller was followed by a delicious pot luck dinner. The hostesses were Mrs. Harry Frauhiger, Miss Lydia Kirsch, Mrs. Elmer Lautenschlager, Mrs. Charles Meyers/ and Mrs. Robert Kiesis. They furnished the meat, rolls and coffee. A meeting, in charge of Mrs. Floyd Hunter, was held in which* she gave the lesson. A piano prelude, “It Is No Secret,” was played "by Miss Lylia Kirsch. Mrs. Lucy Elzey followed with scripture and prayer. The lesson, “Unity in the Churches of Asia,” was given by Mrs. Floyd Hunter. Following the song, “Take My Life and Let It Be,” Mrs. Hunter gave several readings. The chairman, Mrs. Meyers, conducted the business meeting. There were 38 sick calls and 36 social calls reported .To close the meeting all joined hands and repeated the Mizaph benediction. There were 15 members and three guests, Rev. and Mrs. Feller and Paul, present.
Two Charged With Traffic Violations James M. Beery, 16-year-old resident of 911 Bush St., was arrested by the city police Thursday evening and charged with disregarding a fed traffic signal. Beery was arrested at 9 15 p.m. on 13th street, and cited io appear in justice of the peace court. Linda Deane Stetler, 17, of route 1, Willshire, 0., was also cited into J.P. court, on a charge of reckless driving. Se was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Answer Call For Emergency Blood Deputy sheriff Harold August and Walter Baker of 1204 Master Drive Wednesday anwsered a call for emergency blood donors to relieve a serious local shortage of A-positive blood. Mrs. Calvin Burnett, of 512 N. Third St., and Lawrence Anspaugh, of Homestead N. 9, are ready as standby donors if more blood is needed. Red Cross secretary Mrs. Wanda Oelberg said the shortage of blood rationed for. Decatur occurred Wednesday when the last two pints of A-positive were brought from Fort Wayne to Decatur for use in surgery. Births At the Adams county memorial hospital: Larry and Carolyn Crone Reinking, 1016 Nuttman Ave., are the parents of a baby boy weighing 5 lb., 14 oz., born at 12:11 p.m. today.
