to make sure it answers all possible questions about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy The commission, headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, completed its list of scheduled witnesses Thursday when Secret Service Chief James J. Rowley was questioned about measures taken to protect the President and how the system might be improved ’ Sources said other witnesses would be called only if further questions a'ose . during the review of the recommended report the staff is preparing for the commission. Much of the report already, has been written. While the commission was taking testimony from more than 200 witnesses. the staff of about a dozen attorneys was busy writing portions of the/ report. Chicago Mqq Held For Armed Robbery SOUTH BEND. Ind. <UPD — Richard E. Fuqua. 42, Chicago, was held here today on an armed robbery charge in connection with a S4OO holdup at a downtown supermarket. Oficers said Fuqua, who was arested about 45 mniutes after the holdup Thursday night, admitted the crime. He was picked up at a hotel near the store. 10-Year-Old Boy Drowned Thursday NEW MARION, Ind. <UPI) — James Cole. 10, New Marion, drowned Thursday afternoon while swimming with a group of friends in Big Graham Crek near here. The friends notified police when they realized that Cole was not with they as they dressed to return home. State police skindivers recovered his body about three hours later.
The commission has set June 30 as a target date for submitting a report to President Johnson, which could be made public immediately. Some commission members were skeptical that final agreement on the precise wording could be reached by that date, however. The staff is faced with a gargantuan task. With the target date only 11 days away, the staff still has to obtain unanimous agreement of the seven commission members on a report expected to run about 250,000 words. - The report has to include not only narrative explanations of what happened when Kennedy was shot and how Jack Ruby was able to kill Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assasin, but it has to draw conclusions. It will have to resolve the sharply conflicting views of the ’wo persons closest to Oswald. His mother. Marguerite, told the commission she was firmly, convinced her son was innocent and that he had been made a scapegoat. But Oswald’s widow’, Marina, told the commission she was convinced that her ex-Marine husband was the assassin and that he acted alone. - »■ ■ ■ ■ Two to Travel Printed Pattern I Sv® 9031 1 J V12%-22% - | v \ I —- * ~ I \ dm -/• ."is* '. THE NEED OF GOD IS GREAT Rev. James R. Meadows Since everything else has failed, why not try God? There can be no other way of rectifying the viciously mixed up affairs of the world without God's help. You need Him to clarify your vision, to balance your judgment, to purify your sins and give you hope of a blessed eternity. Yes, you need God. Your life is futile without Him. You need Him in joy and in sorrow, in life and in death. You need more than anything else in the world the redemption of your soul, by the crucified Saviour. Have worship £nd the hearing of His Word become a regular part of your Sunday observance? What is it going to be next Sunday?
