Mr. and Mrs. Omer Merriman, route 3, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their youngest daughter, Sandra Sue, to Michael Yodice, son of John Yodice, Brooklyn, N. Y., and the late Fay Yodice. Miss Merriman is a graduate of Monmouth high school and Indiana Central College. She is presently employed by the Sacheon schools in Lake Ronkonkoma, Long Island, N. Y. . Her fiance is a graduate of the William and Grady school in Brooklyn and is presently employed by the H. M. Moses Electrical Corp, of Bronx, N. Y. Hie couple will exchange vows July 26 in the Sheepshead Bay Methodist church in Brooklyn.

PAST PRESIDENTS PARLEY HOLDS MEETING Members of the Past Presidents Parley met Monday evening at the Legion home for the monthly business and social meeting. The meeting was. presided over by the president. Miss Margaret Eiting. The meeting was opened by repeating the Lord’s prayer. Communications were read. Brown, president; Mrs. Clara Bauer, vice president; and Mrs. Wilson Beltz, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Tilman Gehrig was the social hostess for the evening and served delicious refreshments to 11 members. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing, pinochle. Prizes were won by Mrs. Lawrence Rash, Mrs. Alta Brown, and Mrs. Dee Fryback. The next meeting will be in September. The Oakland Baptist church. Rock Hill, S. C., was the scene of the marriage of Miss Janice Mae Beer, daughter of Mr. and' Mrs. Glen Elroy Beer, route 1, Richburg, S. C. to Robert Edwin Maddox, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Arthur Maddox, Savannah, Ga., May 30. A background of gladioli, magnolia leaves and candelabra adorned the altar for the afternoon double r in g ceremony officiated by the Rev. Coit' R. Troutman, Jr. Organist, Mrs. Robert Mhrett, and soloist, Martin L. Leslie, provided the wedding music including, “Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi,” “A Wedding Prayer” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride c hois ea full length candlelight peau de sole gown featuring a slightly scooped neckline and elbow length bell-shaped sleeves. The detachable cathedral train was a camelot design of chantilly lace bordered with peau de soie. A lace and pearl crown held the ballerina length veil. She wore a pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. She carried an arrangement of pink briarcliff roses and gypsophelia centered with a white orchid. Mrs. Samuel Wilson, classmate of the bride from Gadsen, Ala., was matron of honor. She wore a tea length sheath of dresden pink brocade with matching jacket and a round veil attached to a matching bow. She carried an arrangement of pink briarcliff roses with stephanotis. The bridesmaid, Miss Beverly Maddox, sister of the groom, wore a tea length dress of pink chiffon and a round veil attached to a crown. She also carried an arrangement of pink MISS BETTY WALTERS HOSTESS FOR WSWS The WSWS Charity circle of the Union Chapel EUB church met Thursday evening at the home of Miss Betty Walters. The for the evening was Mrs. Tom Gaunt using the topic. “Let’s Face the Challenge of Change.” Ruth Walters presented the group with a piano prelude followed by the reading of the scripture lesson taken from the 19th Psalm.' The hymn “Sing Them Over Again to Me,” was sung by the group, after which Mns. Gaunt led in prayer. The lesson was in the form of a skit with different ladies taking part. A discussion on the lesson was held following the skit in which everyone participated. A litany was used in closing the lesson period. Mrs. Don Hirschy, circle chairman, was in charge of the business meeting. Refreshments were strftd to the 10 members ana three visitors present. C. L. OF C. HOLDS POTLUCK SUPPER A delicious potluck supper was held by the C. L. of C. Tuesday evening. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt was guest of the evening. Also the door prize was awarded to Msgr. Schmitt.,, A business meeting followed the dinner and was conducted by the president, Mrs. Andrew Miller. Games were played following the meeting and prizes Wehe awarded to Mrs. Margaret Braun, Miss Edith Ervin, and Mrs. Clara Rumschlag. For her eldest daughter’s wedding, the bride's mother wore a French blue embroidered pure silk organza sheath with chiffon side cascade, white accessories and a white orchid. Mrs. Maddox chose a yellow floral cream puff sheath which she designed. It featured a panel from the left shoulder, and she wore yellow accessories and cymbidium orchids.. John Arthur Maddox, father of the groom, stood as best man while George E. Keller and Thomas J. Durrett, 111, both from Atanta, Ga., and Troy W. Petty of Spartanburg, S. C., were ushers. Previously a rehearsal supper was given by the groom's parents in Rock Hill, S. C. The rehearsal party was given by aunts and uncles of the bride, including Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Stepler, former residents of Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bieberich of Decatur. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall for 80 guests. Serving at the reception were Miss Barbara Buck, Mrs. Billy Beard, Miss Barbara Clark, Miss Jane Thomas, Mrs. Alex Bolton and Mrs. Johnie Owens. For the wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, the bride wore a mint green whipped cream sleeveless afternoon dress with white accessories and the. orchid from her bridal bouquet. The new Mrs. Maddox received her BS degree from Winthrop College, Rock Hill, S. C., is a graduate of dietetic intership from Baylor Medical center, Dallas, Tex., and is a dietitian in Atlanta, Ga. Maddox is a graduate of Furman University, Greenville, S. C., a graduate of Southeastern Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N. C., and presently in a pastor care internship at Georgia Baptist hospital, Atlanta, Oa. Following the honeymoon the couple will reside at 1150 St. Charles Place, N. E., Atlanta, Ga. The new Mrs. Maddox is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Beer, Decatur, and the late Ernest Worthman and Mrs. Hattie Worthman, Who now makes her home in Richburg, S. C.
