lection of items ever assembled here at a public auction sale in a priva'e home. Auctioneer Earl Cornwell’s gavel was scheduled to start rapping briskly at 10:30 a.m., and Cornwell was faced with the problem of racing against time to sell all the thousands of items in the estate of millionaire ' Skiles E. Test within the three-day period set for the sale. Test, who was head of a motor inn company and builder of a structure on the city’s famed Monument Circle which bears his name, died last year at the age of 74. His death ended some of the mys'ery of “The House of Blue Lights" where he lived in a broad wooded estate vir-
tually hidden in a fashionable section on the fringe of the city. Rumor had it that the eerie blue lights which gleamed at night around the estate and reflected against the shiny milkcolored glass tiles installed in the exterior siding of the house shrouded a glass casket containing the body of Test’s first wife. But actually there was no casket for humans and no body, and the blue lights were Christmas tree strands strung in trees around the house. Nevertheless, the house was filled with mystery largely associated with the question of why Test had such strange possessions and. in some cases, so many of the ame thing. The sale will include 800 pairs of men’s shoes size 8-C, thousands of old phonograph records, dozens of diamond rings with price tags still attached, oriental rugs, scores of cases of tomato catsup; $75,000 worth of hardware items, parts, power tools and mechanical equipment; an amazing variety

of household goods, furniture, works of art. There was also a large variety of miniature caskets bought to provide decent burial for Test’s cats, estimated to have numbered up to 150. Test had set aside a portion of his estate as a pet cemetery complete with headstones. Test was known to neighbors as a kindly though eccentric man who delighted in his pets, including 15 St. Bernard dogs, and had a penchant for buying supplies in case and wholesale lots. The estate includes a huge spring-fed swimming pool with a four-story bathhouse and a

39’ERS ENTERTAINED BY DOG SHOW Pie Thirty Niners held a supper meeting Tuesday evening at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. Following the supper and a short business meeting, the Fort Wayne dog obedience club put on an exhibition of dogs trained to obey every command of their ‘ masters. It was highly entertaining and educational. There were dogs of many breeds, large and small, and the group showed what can be done with a pet if a person will take time, have patience, and give the pet a little love. Decatur exhibitors were Mrs. Charles Kent with her gray French poodle, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gehrig with their white and brown poodles. '' Arrangements are being made for a hobby show to be held at the Youth and Community Center in September. The Flo-Kan Sunshine girls will meet Monday at 6:15 p.m. at the Moose home. All girls are urged to be present for this meeting. Jay County REMC To Expand Service The rural electrification administration <REA> has authorized a loan of $570,000 to the Jay County REMC, which also operates in Adams and Wells counties, to build 15 miles of line serving 130 new members, and to make other improvement, including a new headquarters in Portland, Rep. E. Ross Adair telegraphed the Decatur Daily Democrat this morning. “The Jay county REMC operates as far north in Adams county as St. Mary’s township and crosses highway 33. An REMC is a cooperative. in which all the members are the only stockholders. They were organized when private corporations refused to enter rural areas where use of electricity was low, and costs of distribution were high. Now that farms and farm homes use large quantities of electricity, and REMC’s have paid off most of their debts, many elec- . trie utilities would like to buy them for their members,” the telegram stated. Only One Electric Outage By Storm Ed Hagan, manager of the local Indiana & Michigan office, clarified this morning the extent of damage to I & M lines during the Tuesday evening storm. Hagan said the only outage oc- ' curred in the area of the Yost addition, but the damage was re- - paired in a short time. There were no other outages. Chicago Man Fined ... For Intoxication Dewey Kasee,_6l-year-old Chicago resident, was fined in city court this morning on a charge of public intoxication. • He was fined $1 and costs, with the S2O costs suspended so that he could leave town.
